Tropea Italy Virtual Walking Tour in 4K 2018
In this video I walk around Tropea Italy and the Beaches. The beaches here are some of the most pristine color waters you will see in all of Europe, let alone the world. The first part of the video has me walking around Tropea Beach and the cave, then on to the town where I walk around the streets. Tropea is located in Calabria in what is known as the toe of Italy, if you look at a map.
Best Beach Ever! Tropea Italy
CAMERA USED IN THIS VIDEO:
The name Tropea alone signals (to Italians and foreigners alike) sun, sea and unforgettable sceneries.
This splendid setting lies within the Provice of Vibo Valentia, along the Coast of the Gods, also known as the Beautiful Coast (Costa Bella) for its inspiring panoramas and for its vicinity to the splendid Aeolian Islands.
Facing the Tyrrhennian Sea, Tropea, in fact, is one of the most enchanting spots on the Calabrian Coast.
Tropea, The White Rock and Benedictine Sanctuary
See
Already frequented during Roman times, Tropea was eventually made a bishopric in the 8th Century. Then it was the Normans, and above all the Angevins and the Aragonese, that made the Calabrian town prosper.
The Cathedral, also a fruit of the Norman epoch, was recast several times after suffering seismic damage. Note its intriguing Gothic portals, then move inside to admire its various artworks. The structure is at the center of a handful of myths and legends: one narrates an instance in which two bombs were placed at the church’s entrance but never exploded, supposedly due to the protection provided by the Virgin of Tropea.
To say that the Benedictine Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola (the Santuario benedettino di Santa Maria dell'Isola) is magnificent would be sheer understatement, and it is not hard to understand why it is one of Tropea’s most photographed attractions. The Sanctuary rises up on a high, rocky outcrop surrounded by the beach and the sparkling sea.
Be sure to take a look at the many 17th- and 18th-Century palazzi in Tropea's center, especially those grouped between the narrow but gracious Via Boiano and Largo Galluppi. Among the Baroque edifices is the Church of San Demetrio, featuring an exquisite 1300s chapel inside.
Do
No doubt that the crystalline waters and white sand are Tropea’s calling card, catering to those in search of summertime relaxation, as well as to those wanting to explore its fascinating underwater world, replete with numerous fish species.
Aboveground, citrus and olive groves, and vineyards abound throughout the entire zone, serving as charming backdrop for excursions beyond the city walls.
But of course, the city center of Tropea eventually beckons its visitors to return for a stroll through its streets and past its characteristic churches and noble palaces, stopping every now and then for a unique view onto the natural elements that frame it.
Don’t Miss
July brings to Tropea the annual oily fish or bluetailed fish fair (Sagra del pesce azzurro) and the Red Onion Sagra. Each sagra celebrates local products and cooking traditions, drawing numerous visitors that want to taste and try the typical delicacies and recipes.
A trip to the gorgeous Aeolian Islands is not an option, but a must, with mini-cruises heading to this UNESCO Site, from Tropea and other, outerlying ports.

EXPLORING ITALY'S MOST DRAMATIC BEACH!! | Traveling Tropea
Exploring the dramatic beach town of Tropea!
This might be the best beach in Italy!

Tropea is a seaside resort with impressive scenery in the region of Calabria, in the south of Italy. This stretch of coastline on the Tyrrhenian Sea is called the Costa degli Dei, the 'Coast of the Gods', and it is hugely admired by those in the know as one of Italy's finest summer holiday destinations. The coastline curves outwards in a large hilly bulge, boasting dramatic cliffs, sunny beaches, and a string of little resorts and campsites. Tropea is the busiest and most attractive of these seaside towns; with a historic centre perched on cliffs above the sea.
Tropea is large enough and interesting enough to serve as a base for a longer holiday, and the local railway line and boat trips allow a certain amount of exploration without the need to drive. Although it is not particularly well-known to English-speaking travellers, Tropea is popular with Italians and with sun-seeking Germans, many of whom drive south in camper vans or head for the area's campsites. Italians mostly holiday in July and August; in May, June and September Tropea is both cheaper and less crowded while the weather should still be warm and sunny.
Tropea's principal social activity is a traditional one with a twist. Any time of the day or evening you'll see holidaymakers and locals taking a passeggiata down Corso Vittorio Emanuele, strolling along and people-watching, before reaching the the street's sudden end, where a set of metal railings offer a dramatic view over the beach and sea. The next stage in the ritual is to lean out, admire the view, chat a little, then wander back up the road to sit with a drink or to perform another circuit.

TROPEA BEACH CALABRIA ITALY
TROPEA BEACH CALABRIA ITALY
This ancient and stunning town sits among sugar sand beaches and stark cliffs. Once believed to be founded by Hercules, Tropea’s natural beauty still maintains an otherworldly draw for lovers of sand and sun. Not to miss are the town’s two most notable churches- the Santa Maria del’Isola, a medieval church that was built on its own island just off the coast (though siltation and years has built a land bridge between it and the mainland). The second church to see is the local cathedral, with two unexploded bombs from WWII sitting right outside their front door. It was believed to be protected by the local patron saint.
