Barefoot in Cow Bay
Cow Bay is the perfect gateway to the Cape Tribulation area, the World-Heritage listed Daintree National Park, the Great Barrier Reef and Cooktown in Tropical North Queensland - only two hours drive north of Cairns.
We spent many days enjoying this beach, and found it to be more enjoyable than the tourist packed Cape Trib.

Shaw's Cowfish at Shoalwater Marine Park, Rockingham
This cowfish was about the size of a football, the biggest I have yet seen. The patterining is just stunning. About midway you can hear me yell leatherjacket!, well, leatherjackets are similar to cowfish.
Cyclone Nicholas hits Exmouth - Western Australia
Cyclone Nicholas - Australia February 19 2008
Cyclone Nicholas was predicted to become a major cyclone, however it never did,
the whole chase, from Broome in Western Australia was one of constant problems,
as the truck is only used about once a year things tend to go wrong with it, despite
a lot of mantainance and repairs being done on it it still broke down 4 times on the
way to Exmouth, finally, I hit two large cows in the middle of the night (below)

DAVE SCHOON - AN AVOIDABLE & TRAGIC LOSS! Cow Bay, Queensland.
Dear sweet and kind Dave,
May you be sitting by your campfire under a starlit sky, surrounded by those who REALLY respected and loved you.
LYN . . .
In Memory of Dave SCHOON - Cow Bay, Daintree Rainforest, Queensland. Shut the Bloody Gate, Mate!
ONE OF NATURE'S GENTLEMEN . . .
Our eulogy to Dave, OUR brother who left us on Friday the 15th of February, 2008 at his home, Lot 19, Silkwood Road, Cow Bay, Daintree rainforest, FNQ. An absolute and avoidable tragedy.
This montage is to celebrate Dave's good times on this earth and to express our deepest love and respect for him.
He deserved the best, such a brave, gentle, kind and loving being, a natural-born Bush Poet and singer who possessed a unique Aussie sense of humour - (who could not smile hearing Dave hum the Pink Panther theme?).
An Aussie through and through, he was a rare breed of a man whose word was his bond (you'd know this eh Kingsley!) and his last written wishes, particularly about his 'ex', should have been honoured! Never again does he have to suffer anymore of what he was put through on his last Melbourne Cup day or his last Christmas evening AND no more Nurse Ratcheds!
We are extremely privileged and proud to have had you for a brother and a mate and time will NEVER dull missing you. For all the times you were simply there, always with a kind word and excellent counsel.
Our love forever, LYN and GEOFF. Nemo me impune lacessit.

Whale in Mackay
Whale I never, two officers in Mackay had a close encounter on the weekend. A hump day tail they won’t forget.
On Sunday August 5, officers Sergeant Mick Jones, Officer in Charge of Sarina Police Station and Constable Jemma Crowley also from Sarina Police Station, assisted the water police, out on water patrols.
The officers were patrolling the exclusion zones, and making sure both experienced and recreational fishermen were abiding by the rules.
During their patrol, near Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay they came across a delightful whale, who enjoyed circling the police boat before swimming off.
