Filmed on the 04/06/2017 since then my video skills and equipment has improved alot :)
Trotternish is one of the most spectacular landscapes in Britain. The great ridge which forms its backbone is the longest on Skye, and its unique eastern escarpment has been broken by Europe's largest landslides into a remarkable landscape. A very long and challenging walk with much ascent and descent. There are some very steep parts up and down i managed it with a big backpack. You need a good level of fitness and know how to use a map or gps. Is possible to camp up on the ridge but its very exposed make sure you there no storms predicted.

Day 2 continues from the coast at Flodigarry high up along the amazing rollercoaster Trotternish Ridge. Truly awesome! A very demanding day in terms of terrain, ascent and distance. The beautiful weather allowed me astonishing views all day long.
18 miles (and 5700 feet of ascent).

Justin's tip - The ridge day can be made easier by starting at the road pass from Staffin to Uig at the 4-mile mark. Just extend day 1 from Flodigarry to the pass and arrange transport.

Scotland - Isle of Skye Backpacking Gopro
In september 2017, we went for a 4-days backpacking trip to the Isle of Skye. We took a bus from Glasgow to Portree, and then from there another bus to the north of Skye, Duntulm. We walked the Skye trail up to Portree. We slept one night in a hostel and the other nights in the wild on the Trotternish ridge. We had a lot of wind and rain, but the views were absolutely amazing.

Ultimate Guide To The Isle of Skye Scotland | Old Man of Storr and Much More | Scottish Highlands
We have been to the Isle of Skye on three separate occasions and have done many things on Skye. A couple of the most memorable experiences were hiking The Old Man of Storr, hiking The Quiraing, seeing the northern lights near Fairy Pools, and experiencing the strongest wind ever at Duntulum Castle!
The Isle of Skye is one of the most spectacular places on this planet, but the weather can be very temperamental, as you can see in our Isle of Skye Video! Even with visiting this highlands isle as many times as us, we were still confronted with extreme wind and rain each time--it's basically inevitable in Scotland!
So no matter what time of year you go, expect a little bit of the Scottish weather but don't worry, it's actually quite fun! The only advice we can give you on the time of year to go is that the summer is peak season and they titrate the number of people they allow onto the island if you are a tourist! So look at going in the shoulder seasons or book your accommodations well in advance and leave early to beat the traffic on those narrow Scottish Isle of Skye roads!

Witamy na najbardziej znanym szlaku wyspy Skye w Szkocji czyli The Storr, którego symbolem jest Kamienny Starzec zwany The Old Man of Storr!
Ta wysoka na około 50m, bazaltowa formacja skalna, sprawiająca wrażenie trzymającej się na ostatnich resztkach sił, ma przypominać wyglądem starca, lecz to co zobaczymy przypatrując się skale, zależy w dużej mierze od tego, której legendy wysłuchamy zanim wybierzemy się na wspinaczkę.
Powstanie tej formacji skalnej przypisywane jest kilku legendom. Według, jednej z nich, dawno temu, zamieszkiwał te tereny stary gigant zwany mężczyzną ze Storr. Kiedy nadszedł jego czas, i został pochowany, ponad powierzchnią ziemi pozostawiono jego kciuk, który teraz góruje nad okolicznymi dolinami.
Inna legenda mówi, że wystająca skała jest jego twarzą.
Wszystkie opowieści zgadzają się że był to gigant i stąd wzięła się nazwa najwyższej najwyższa formacja skalna w Trotternish Ridge zwana dzisiaj Old Man of Storr.
Według odkryć geologicznych, zarówno ta skała, reszta terenu Storr jak i sąsiednich gór Quoring, uformowała się podczas gigantycznych osunięć ziemi w czasach starożytnych.
Po dzień dzisiejszy miejsce to, porusza się nieznacznie lecz zauważalnie. Podczas wspinaczki oraz spacerów pomiędzy skałami, napotkamy tutaj tabliczki informujące o niebezpieczeństwie częstych kamiennych lawin.
Wspinaczka na niektóre ze skał i gór a w szczególności na samego Starca ze Storr, nie należy do łatwych ani bezpiecznych. Kamienie w większości nie przytwierdzone są do podłoża, i mają stabilność żwiru, który w każdej chwili może osunąć się nam pod nogami.
Podróże w miejsce to jednak nie tylko kamienny starzec. Zobaczycie stąd wspaniałe widoki na morze, sąsiednie wyspy, okoliczne formacje skalne jak klify Storr, a możliwość przechadzania się licznymi wąskimi dróżkami, gwarantuje klimat tajemniczości oraz dreszczyk emocji.
Mimo, że duża część skalnych przesmyków i wąwozów oznakowana jest jako bardzo niebezpieczna, widoki są definitywnie warte ryzyka.
Pamiętajcie jednak aby zawsze myśleć o swoim bezpieczeństwie w pierwszej kolejności!
Niezwykły krajobraz okolic Storr oraz okoliczny szlak turystyczny znany jako Quiraing, był planem filmowym dla kilku filmów, w tym Człowiek z Wikliny, Prometeusz oraz Królewna Śnieżka i Łowca.
Jeśli znajdziecie się na wyspie Skye, definitywnie warto zobaczyć tą okolicę chociażby dlatego, że nigdzie indziej w Europie nie znajdziecie tak pięknego krajobrazu. Podróże na wszystkie lokalne szlaki i atrakcje są darmowe a lokalni mieszkańcy z pewnością wskażą ten jako jeden z najciekawszych.
Około 10 minut podróży samochodem, znajdują się także takie atrakcje jak Quiraing oraz Kilt Rock, o których dowiedzieć się możecie z jednego z poprzednich filmów które nakręciliśmy.
