Restoration (2003) - Rescuing Heritage buildings in Britain. Dir. Simon Mansfield
Episode Four of the UK television series dedicated to the preservation of rare and unusual buildings around the UK. This episode's candidates, all in the northeast of England, were Ravensworth Castle near Gateshead, Harperley WW2 prison camp near Durham and Wentworth Woodhouse Conservatory with Stainborough Castle folly near Barnsley.
Other famous locations covered were Hadrian's Wall, Berwick-on-Tweed, Gormley's Angel of the North statue, Alnwick Castle and Dean Clough Mills, Halifax, with a brief nod to the Episode Three contenders, Banchory Sanatorium near Aberdeen, Kinloch Castle on Rhum, and Burra Croft on Shetland. Griff Rhys Jones presented the series. In this episode, contributions were made by the journalist Kate Adie, historian Michael Wood and gardener Rachel de Thame. This was an Endemol Production for the BBC, therefore not my work and only uploaded for your private edification and enjoyment. I rescued the programme from a remarkably well-preserved old VHS cassette.
The sad postscript to this programme is that many of the buildings featured have yet to be secured. Following massive investments, the Wentworth Estate and (in 2013) its conservatory were eventually rescued but failed to operate profitably, resulting in its closure in 2017. Harperley Camp remains largely unrestored but for a very recent effort to restore the theatre building. Despite an ambitious revival project, Ravensworth remains in a ruinous state and on the English Heritage At Risk Register. Banchory Sanatorium was destroyed by fire in 2016.
It has been the smaller and simpler buildings that have fared better; Burra Croft now operates as a small island museum. Kinloch Castle on the isolated Scottish Isle of Rhum was once criticised for its dull external design, yet it may well have been its simplicity that largely preserved its lavish interiors. It continues as a tourist attraction but currently requires significant investment following ownership transfer from Scottish National Heritage to a local Community Trust.

Frank Miniter: The Search for Manhood in a Changing World
Whatever happened to all the real men?
Oh, we see plenty of masculine imagery in movies and TV. Healthy, successful, attractive guys with gorgeous women hanging all over them.
We yearn to be those men – but these images don’t tell us how to become like them. Maybe we try to fake it by buying a nice suit or an expensive car – but deep down, we know we’re just pretending, so nothing really changes.
I used to be a guy like that too – faking my way through life, bored at my job, always in the “friend zone” with the women I wanted… dreaming big and hoping next year would be different but living all too small.
That all changed when I found out where the REAL male mentors are… built strong friendships with them… and let them teach me how to take back my masculine power once and for all.
These powerful men told me things my father never told me… about women, finance, physical health, and how to become the strongest version of myself. And after a decade of intensive mentorship, I now want to pass this knowledge on to you.
It’s time to shatter your chains, and start living the life you know you deserve – as a strong grounded man.
I’m offering my exclusive 90-minute, 30-video training course on becoming a strong, grounded man… absolutely FREE, for a very limited time.

Key Points
1. You Need to Stand Up for Yourself
The definition of masculinity is ambiguous and multifaceted at best.
You cannot consider yourself a true “man” unless you are willing to stand up for yourself, what you believe, and others.
Never be afraid to stand up for yourself, your friends, or your values, because at the end of the day it is better to live a short life where you face your fears and
2. Life is Meant to be Lived in Community
We live in the most socially disconnected time in human history, and despite all of our technological advancements and the rapid growth of social media and other online platforms, the problem is not getting any better.
If you want to succeed in life, if you want to be truly happy and successful, then you need to have a group of men around you who you can trust, you need to have a community of like-minded individuals who will build you up and hold you accountable and who will be there for you when you are on cloud nine and rock bottom.
3. Manhood is Defined by Your Values and Your Code
Manhood has meant something different to nearly every culture throughout history.
But the one thing that all of these ancient cultures had in common is that their ideals of manhood were derived from a code.
The truth of the matter is, there is no one code that will work universally for every man.
This means that all of us will function under a different code and live by different values.
4. You Need to be a Well-Rounded Man
So often in our modern society, we are quick to judge and label certain activities as unmanly, red neck, or “posh”.
But you need to remember that an essential part of modern manliness is being able to participate in a wide variety of activities and show yourself to be well-rounded both in your skills and intellect.
5. Show Respect to Others
No one can call himself a man if they are not respecting the people in their lives, if they are not loving others, and if they are not following the “golden rule.”
Respect others and earn the respect of others.
That is where true manliness lies.

Hey Diddle Diddle Time for a Riddle| Batman the Enemy Within Episode 1
Batman: The Enemy Within is an episodic point-and-click graphic adventure video game developed and published by Telltale Games and distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under its DC Entertainment label. The game is a sequel to 2016's Batman: The Telltale Series, which was based on Bob Kane and Bill Finger's Batman character, though not tied to any previous adaptation of the work in film or other media.
The game features a similar episodic format found in other past Telltale titles (such as The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands), where the story is affected by both the dialogue and action choices of the player during quick time events. It will present situations to the player where they may choose to approach as Bruce Wayne or as Batman. The maturity is similar to past Telltale games, including Batman: The Telltale Series.

Emma (version 3) Jane AUSTEN
Jane Austen famously described Emma Woodhouse, the title character of her 1815 novel, as a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like. Yet generations of readers have loved Emma, as much for her blunders as for her wit and vivacity. Emma, handsome, clever, and rich, has nothing else to do but try to pair off her friends, and she consistently mis-reads the relationships and situations around her as much as she mis-reads her own heart. The novel features a wonderful cast of characters, including Emma's hypochondriac father, the odiously prideful Mrs. Elton, the mysterious and reserved Jane Fairfax, and Miss Bates, who never stops talking. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett).

Frankenstein Audiobook ; or The Modern Prometheus (1818) by Mary Shelley | Audiobook with subtitles
Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is a novel written by the British author Mary Shelley. Shelley wrote the novel when she was 18 years old. The first edition was published anonymously in London in 1818, and this audiobook is read from that text. Shelley's name appeared on the revised third edition, published in 1831. The title of the novel refers to the scientist, Victor Frankenstein, who learns how to create life and creates a being in the likeness of man, but larger than average and more powerful. In modern popular culture, people have tended to refer to the Creature as Frankenstein (especially in films since 1931), despite this being the name of the scientist, and the creature being unnamed in the book itself. Frankenstein is a novel infused with elements of the Gothic novel and the Romantic movement. It was also a warning against the over-reaching of modern man and the Industrial Revolution, alluded to in the novel's subtitle, The Modern Prometheus. The story has had an influence across literature and popular culture and spawned a complete genre of horror stories and films. It is arguably considered the first fully-realised science fiction novel and raises many issues still relevant to today's society. (Summary from wikipedia.org, adapted by Cori Samuel.)
