Tshokwane Picnic Site - Kruger National Park
Tshokwane Picnic Site was also recently revamped and is a delight for the travelers between Satara and Skukuza camps on the (H1-2 & H1-3 main road). Stevenson-Hamilton set up Tshokwane as a ranger's post in 1928 he used this camp to explore the northern areas of the old Sabi Reserve. Tshokwane was the name of an old Shangaan chief who lived there until his death in 1915. He had and shared a lot of information about the tribal history of the area and Stevenson-Hamilton with stories about Swazi and Zulu raids into the area 50 plus years before Hamilton started to protect the area.

Nkuhlu Picnic Spot - Kruger National Park
The Nkuhlu picnic spot is the only stopover on the busiest road in Kruger National Park between Lower Sabie and Skukuza. Situated on the banks of the Sabie River. Nkuhlu is the Swazi name for the Natal Mahogany. With its river view and a small shop and clean bathrooms, it makes a refreshing stop for coffee, brunch, lunch or even ice cream.
Afsaal picnic spot - Kruger National Park
A well-known comfort stop is the Afsaal picnic spot in Kruger National Park. This spot is situated 22,5 km from Malelane Gate on the H3 road towards Skukuza Camp. Here you can enjoy freshly homemade ROOSTER KOEK with a variety of fillings like Bobotie and Boere Wors all traditional meals to South Africa. The coffee station and a curio shop are available for the visitors. Afsaal is known for very good game watching in the area especially the Biamitie wear area. The book Jock of the Bushveld was written by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick in 1905 and mentions the track where they transport riders moved from Lydenburg to Maputo and Afsaal is one of this historical spots they used as a campsite. You can still follow some of this route on the H2-2 Voortrekker Road towards Pretoriuskop from Afsaal.
