通潤橋 山都町 Tsujunkyo Bridge
Built in 1854, Tsujunkyo Bridge is Japan's largest stone-arch aqueduct bridge. The bridge has a width of 6.3 m (6.9 yd.) and a length of 75.6 m (83.2 yd.). The arch diameter is 28.2 m (31 yd.), which gives the structure a maximum height of 20.2 m (22.2 yd.) over the Todoroki River in Yamato Town, Kumamoto Prefecture on Kyushu, which is the southern island of Japan. The stone-built bridge, which creates a large and elegant arc through space, is recognized by the Japanese government an Important Cultural Property.

秋の豊作を願う八朔祭が２日、熊本県山都町であった。祭りの最大の呼び物である「大造り物」１１基が登場。町中心部を引き回され、大勢の見物客を喜ばせた。祭りは１日から２日間。大造り物は木や竹、ススキなどを使って学校や町内会が制作、アイデアや完成度を競う。今年は「ゲリラ竜 大暴れ たちあがれ大阿蘇」など、九州北部豪雨で被災した阿蘇地方にエールを送る作品も見られた。

水前寺成趣園・ 熊本 Suizenji-Park Kumamoto JAPAN
Suizenji Jōju-en is a Japanese garden located within Suizen-ji Park 水前寺公園 in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The main tsukiyama is a representation of Mount Fuji. Lord Hosokawa Tadatoshi began construction of the garden in 1636 as a tea retreat. The park was named after a no-longer-extant Buddhist temple called Suizen-ji, and now hosts Izumi Shrine, where members of the Hosokawa family are enshrined, and a Nōgaku-dō, a Noh theater. Lord Hosokawa selected this site because of its spring-fed pond, which clean water was excellent for tea. The thatched Kokin-Denju-no-Ma teahouse was originally in Kyoto's Imperial Palace, but was moved here in 1912, and the garden has been declared by the national government a historic site of scenic beauty.
The garden reproduces the 53 post stations of the Tokaido, the important road, which connected Edo with Kyoto during the Edo Period, in miniature form.
Offbeat Japan: Takeda Castle (竹田城跡)
The Takeda Castle, constructed on a mountain at 353 meters of altitude, is one of the top hundred famous castles in Japan.
In autumn when the sky is clear, fog can be seen early in the morning. The view is such that the castle can be seen surrounded by a sea of clouds, thus resembling a castle floating in the sky.
