Tsukuba Space Center has a rocket engine and exhibits on space exploration. North, a funicular railway and cable car run to the twin peaks of Mount Tsukuba, known for its fall foliage. At the foot of the mountain, Tsukuba-san Shrine was founded in the 7th century.

A spectacular summer festival in Tsukuba Science City!
This year's Matsuri Tsukuba (Festival Tsukuba) illustrated the charm of Tsukuba city - nature · history · science · diverse culture.
Festival Tsukuba’s biggest attraction is the grand parade that takes place around Tsukuba Station. Japan's largest Mikoshi, Expo floats, Aomori Nebuta and “Akita Kanto lanterns”, etc. walk through the parade venue!
Tsukuba City is best known as the science and research center of Japan, but it certainly knows how to party! Matsuri Tsukuba, with traditional and modern entertainment and a huge array of vendors, attracts 500,000 people every August.

This is the fourth of five news reports produced by the Far East Network (FEN), Tokyo on Expo '85, an international exposition in Tsububa, Japan. One hundred eleven countries set up exhibits using the theme, Dwellings and Surroundings - Science and Technology for Man at Home. More than 20.3 million people attended the three-month event. 茨城県つくば市にある科学館です。1985年に筑波研究学園都市で開催されたつくば万博を記念して作られました。プラネタリウム・H-IIロケット・科学万博メモリアルコーナーなどが見所だと思います。
ゆうりはスペースシャトルのおもちゃを買って大満足でした。

Nature based Artist from different countries were Invited by Tsukuba Art Center to be the residents at Tsukuba Mountains, Ibaraki, Japan, with directional support from Mr Takashi Ikezawa ( Curator/Director ), Ms Mitsuko Shinohara ( Producer ) and Mr Masaru Yamada (Technical Director), they created art works during this time using the most of the material and inspiration from the mountain itself. This is the documentation of what was seen and what was felt, what was observed and absorbed.
