Mt.Tsukuba[ZEKKEI IBARAKI]
Since ancient times, many have said, “To the west lies Mt. Fuji, and to the east, Mt. Tsukuba,” and the mountain has also been called “Shiho” for its vibrant colors at dawn and dusk.
Mt. Tsukuba has two peaks known as Nantaisan (male) and Nyotaisan (female), and it has thrived since long ago as a sacred mountain.
The trail leading to Mt. Tsukuba is lined with signposts and kura (storehouses), allowing enjoyment of the historical town that retained the atmosphere of the Edo Period. The mountain allows enjoyment of nature through climbing and hiking, attracting people throughout the year.
A cable car and ropeway offer easy access to the top of the mountain, allowing people of all ages to enjoy the beautiful view.

つくばの秋の風物詩「筑波山神社御座替祭」???? Tsukubasan Shrine Ozagawari Festival ????2018.11.1
筑波山神社の例祭で、毎年11月と4月におこなわれる「御座替祭」が11月1日（木）に開催されました。動画は御座替祭を構成する3つのまつりの中で、筑波山の中腹から筑波山神社の拝殿まで、色とりどりの伝統的な装束をまとった一行が急勾配の「つくば道」を練り歩く「神幸祭」の模様です。14時30分ごろから、中腹にある鳥居での神事の後、スタートし、90分ほどかけて、休みを入れながら登っていきます。
90分の祭をぎゅっと10分ほどにまとめた動画となっています。
11月1日は最高の秋晴れとなり、訪れた観光客や地元の方々もカメラを片手に一行と上り歩く光景が見られました。紅葉スポットは少なめの筑波山ですが、太平洋が見える澄んだ空気、日差しの色、木々の色など、冬の訪れを感じとることができます。
筑波山の神が山頂と山麓の間を季節の引っ越しとして行き来することを祀る、この祭はまさに、つくばの冬の訪れを告げる風物詩と言えます。

In Tsukuba shrine of example festival, it is the important festival in Tsukuba maximum. The festival, generally in summer and winter parent-child of God has been said to Kanza changes in the worship hall of the hillside and the summit of your main shrine.
The actual contents of the festival,

Faith Festival (dust dating: the summit Kamikoromo Festival in your Kamui is filled full of the previous fiscal year Kamikoromo that was tessellation is Togyo the parishioners area housed in a portable shrine, to pray for peace in the area of development and houses)

Adventures Climbing Mt. Tsukuba (in Ibaraki, Japan!)
Mt. Tsukuba is the largest mountain in Ibaraki. It's actually TWO mountains Nyotai-san (877m) and Nantai-san (871) - and it's one of the few non volcanic mountains in Japan.
It's also very green (as you can tell from this video). And really steep.
The mountain is said to lead to a happy marriage (because one peak is male and the other is female - ie learning to live and love together). I'm not sure if it really does help, but Ryouske and I certainly had fun climbing it.
We really like climbing mountains :D

Hiking up Mt. Tsukuba’s Nyotaisan 筑波山女体山 via Shirakumobashi Trail 白雲橋コース. Fall colors are beautiful now and mostly seen around Tsukubasan Shrine (筑波山神社) and the cable car station.....particularly spectacular when they are lit up after sunset.

This trail is a great workout and challenging/strenuous, so be prepared. Not ideal for beginners.

Mt. Tsukuba
Mt. Tsukuba(Tsukubasan筑波山), one of 100 famous mountains in Japan, is located in Ibaraki Prefecture, within an hour from Tokyo by train (Tsukuba Express). For centuries Mt. Tsukuba has been worshipped as “sacred mountain” with the entire mountain seen as a body of deity. That said, there are shrines and sacred meanings attached to various locations in the mountain. There’s also a saying about Mt. Tsukuba and Mt. Fuji, “nishi no Fuji, higashi no Tsukuba,” that is, Mt. Fuji in the west and Mt. Tsukuba in the east.
The journey
People usually start hiking from Tsukubasan Shrine (Tsukubasan Jinja 筑波山神社) or Tsutsujigaoka (つつじヶ丘), but my hike began from Numata, a small town at the foot of the mountain, which added extra 2.5km to the journey. It was worth for the extra effort, however, sightseeing through a quaint mountain community and businesses such as local foods and souvenirs. Mt. Tsukuba is a rocky mountain with dense forest and twin peaks, Nyotaisan (“female body”)/877m and Nantaisan (“male body”)/871m. There are several hiking trails to scale the mountain, and trailheads are located near Tsukubasan Shrine (Tsukubasan Jinja 筑波山神社) on the mountainside and Tsutsujigaoka (つつじヶ丘) where the ropeway station is, depending on which hiking course you want to take.
Shirokumobashi Course (白雲橋コース)
This trail offers a great workout hike ascending steeply with wood and rocky steps and a little scrambling towards the end. Along the upper segment of the trail, there are big rocks and boulders that are unique shapes and formations with anecdotal history and story behind, so stop for a moment as you go and come across….you may get inspired!? At the top, take in spectacular panoramic vistas from Nyotaisan....wow! Rising 877m above sea level, Mt. Tsukuba towers over the vast Kanto Plain. When the skies are clear, Tokyo Skytree and even Mt.Fuji are visible.
Bring layers as temperature could change significantly at the top. Trekking poles may be useful.

2018.4.1に筑波山で開催された、筑波山神社の例大祭、春の御座替祭の模様です。春と秋（4月1日と11月1日）に筑波山の神様が衣替えのために山の上と山麓を神輿に乗って行き来します。江戸時代から続く、筑波山神社への参道「つくば道」の急峻な坂道をみんなで練り歩きながら登っていく、地域の風物詩です。

To start off the new year, I decided to hike up Mount Tsukuba to try and get some landscape photos. I got up to the peak of Nyotaisan right before sunset and I can't recommend it enough. However, I wasn't prepared for what would come next.
Mount Tsukuba stands around 877m tall and has two peaks, Nyotaisan and Nantaisan. According to some locals, Nyotaisan is better for the sunset and nightscapes while Nantaisan is better for sunrise.
Places visited:
Mt. Mitake - connects to a variety of other mountains, opening it up to be a fun and challenging hiking course. Located to the west of Tokyo next to Mt. Takao.
Mt. Tsukuba - Located in Ibaraki Prefecture to the east of Tokyo. It's kind of annoying to get there and back so plan your trip beforehand.
For Mt. Tsukuba, it cost roughly 3498 JPY total for me to go there and back from Kitasenju Station. From Kitasenju to Tsukuba it costs 1029 and the bus from Tsukuba Center to Tsukubasan Shrine is 720.
There is a day pass ticket that you can purchase.
It costs 4300 JPY to depart from Akihabara or 4040 JPY from Kitasenju. The ticket includes fares from the designated origin station to Tsukuba, the buses, cable car, ropeway, and discounts on some things in the area.
