Palomino is a small village located on the tropical north coast of Colombia. As Palomino is situated in the north of Colombia, the rugged, untouched beaches are made up of volcanic sand, coconut trees and bamboo shacks, met by an alluring, aqua coloured ocean, otherwise known as the Caribbean Sea.

Before arriving in Palomino Colombia, we knew we would love it, hence why we were so excited to get there. Something so enchanting about Palomino is it’s proximity to Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the worlds highest coastal mountain range which is inhabited by four ethnic tribes – Kogi, Arhuaco, Wiwa and Kankuamo.

If you are traveling in Colombia and looking for a slightly more ‘off the beaten path’ destination to visit, Palomino is the place for you. With it’s stunning natural beauty made up of high mountain peaks, freshwater rivers and beaches that can only be defined as paradise, Palomino is a small village with a huge amount to offer.

River Tubing in Rio Palomino, Colombia

Turn off your mind, elax and float downstream... :-P

Bernard, Esmeralda and I took some inner-tubes, hired a river guide and let the current drift us from the Palomino hills to the Caribbean sea. Betwixt and between the mountains and the sea were a few stops where one could buy cervezas, dance champeta, or play Tejo (a Colombian national sport.)

A common stop on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia is Palomino, a place that is honestly unlike anywhere I've been in terms of the community. It's almost like a Neverland of people who left society to live in a place that is completely free of judgement.

You will see a wide variety of personalities and Palomino itself is known for it's parties as well as the 2-hour inter-tube ride down the river to the sea. A beautiful place but in my opinion you only need a day or two.

PALOMINO GUAJIRA TUBING [ COLOMBIA ]

Hacer tubing, es básicamente montar un neumático (flotador) y descender por un río; en esta ocasión nuestra experiencia es en el río Palomino, ubicado en el municipio de Palomino, que a la vez es el límite entre los departamentos de La guajira y Magdalena; el tubing es una actividad para disfrutar de la tranquilidad de la naturaleza, donde se puede observar variedad de fauna y flora; este es un lugar ideal para despejar la mente, para inspirarse, para relajarse...en fin. Pero además de hacer tubing, en Palomino también se puede disfrutar de una extensa y tranquila playa; una excelente gastronomía; y en las noches en algunos restaurantes llegan diversos artistas a amenizar la comida, con su excelente música; a nuestro parecer, GENIAL.
