The Riverfront Blues Festival is a 3 day, outdoor music festival held in
Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park Wilmington, Delaware.
There is an amazing lineup this year, including British electric blues phenom Joanne Shaw Taylor, the legendary harmonica player James Cotton, a Chicago Blues Reunion with some all-star players, and the Lowrider Band, featuring the original composers of the hits: Lowrider, Why Can't We Be Friends, Spill the Wine, Cisco Kid, Slippin Into Darkness, The World is a Ghetto... I could go on all day.
In between are some of the hottest progenitors of this seminal American music on two stages,
this year with a heavy emphasis on the electric guitar.
Hohner has donated 300 harmonicas for the return of Gary Allegretto's
free Harmonikids workshops, which will take place in between sets on Saturday & Sunday.
Diamond State Blues Society will hold their annual AFTERPARTY at the Sheraton on Friday and Saturday after the shows, and you never know who might show up to jam. Tickets for the afterparty are available at diamondstateblues.com.

The Riverfront Development Corporation and the City of Wilmington are looking for someone to design a new monument to greet visitors at the Tubman-Garret Riverfront Park. The Riverfront Sculpture Selection Committee has put out a call for an artist -- or a team of artist, to participate in a competitive design process for the creation of a public sculpture that will be installed and permanently displayed at the City's busy riverfront park. Up to two-hundred-and-twenty-thousand-dollars in public and private funds are available to complete the project. Anyone interested in being considered for the project can go to the website of either the City of Wilmington or the RDC for more details. September 30 is the deadline for submissions.

Welcome to the 12th Annual Delaware Marathon™ Running Festival

It will be our twelfth anniversary in 2015. We have some very exciting things planned for Mother’s Day 2015, so please bookmark this website as we promote our new partnerships and announce our plans for Delaware’s largest, oldest, biggest, and best running festival.
The Delaware Marathon™ and Delaware Half Marathon™ will start together at 7:00 a.m. SHARP from Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park on the historic Wilmington, Delaware Riverfront; the relay marathons shortly thereafter. This small waterfront park is located just off Martin Luther King Boulevard in downtown Wilmington at the intersection of South Market Street (Rte 13) and Rosa Parks Drive (Water Street). The park is located between the AMTRAK Station and the Riverfront Market. There is plenty of free parking nearby and easy access to and from Interstate I-95 (Exit 6).

Race Courses
You asked for a scenic race course and you got it!! The Delaware Marathon™ course consists of two half marathon distance loops. Both loops take you from the Wilmington Riverfront on the Christina River, across town to beautiful Brandywine Park on the Brandywine River, along Kentmere and Bancroft Parkways, through the 40 Acres, Wawaset Park, and Little Italy neighborhoods of Wilmington before returning via the Wilmington park system and past Rodney Square to the Riverfront.
Runners may register for the full 26.2 mile marathon, the 13.1 mile half marathon, a four person relay marathon or an eight person relay marathon. The four person relay marathon course consists of four loops of 6.55 miles each starting and finishing on the Riverfront. The eight person relay marathon course consists of eight loops of 3.275 miles each starting and finishing on the Riverfront. Both relay races run on the marathon / half marathon course. The 4P Relay Marathon turns around just past Bancroft and Kentmere Parkway. The 8P Relay Marathon turns around at the intersection of North Market Street and North Park Drive (far end of N. Market Street bridge) at the entrance to Brandywine Park.
Time Limit
The race course will be open for six hours (1:00 pm) – after which our agreement with the City of Wilmington requires the roads be reopened to traffic. All back of the pack marathon runners (and walkers) will be asked to finish the race on the sidewalks and abide by the traffic signals. There is also an early start – 45 minutes early (at 6:15 am) for the marathoners to allow them to finish the event close to 1:00 pm. We will leave the timing systems open to all finishers to receive their official finishing time, medal, and amenities.
Beneficiaries
This is a non-profit event. In 2015, our primary beneficiary will be the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute at Christiana Care. Without the expert medical support of the Christiana Care Health System, this event would not exist. Other race beneficiaries include the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation, Team in Training Delaware, YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, and Girls on the Run Delaware.
In addition, we support the fundraising efforts of the B+ Foundation, Camp Abilities, Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, JDRF, Alzheimer’s Association and First Tee of Delaware. Please feel free to donate to one or all of these worthwhile charities when you send in your application form. The 2010 Riverfront Blues Festival will be held August 6th, 7th and 8th in Wilmington's Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park.
This year's lineup features a blues supergroup each night.

On the Main Stage:

At 6:45 - Bernard Allison continues the family blues business started by his father, Luther Allison.
The Delta Groove Harp Blast takes the stage at 8:30, featuring Al Blake, Randy Chortkoff, Mitch Kashmar, Jimi Bott, Willie Campbell, Frank Goldwasser & Kirk Fletcher
On the bandwagon Stage, Dr Harmonica and Rocket 88, and the Bernard Allison Group will keep things going between the Main Stage sets.

John Lee Hooker, Jr. might look a little like his late, legendary father, but he's got a gritty style all his own. He'll be on the Main Stage at 2:30.
The final Blues Festival supergroup goes onstage at 4:30. The Legendary Rhythm & Blues Revue features The Tommy Castro Band, Magic Dick (of the J. Geils Band), Deanna Bogart & Joe Louis Walker.

Discounted tickets for The 2010 Riverfront Blues Festival are available in advance only until noon on Thursday, August 4th. The best deal is a 3 Day Weekend Pass for just $50, but one-day passes are also available. Children 12 & under are free when accompanied by an adult.
