(Kato) Racing up Strava.com Segment Harding Truck Trails 9 miles gate to gate
On June 16th, 2012 Manny, Paul, Greg, Daniel, Jon and Dan rode up Harding. I rode to log my Strava.com Harding Truck Trail 9 mile gate to gate segment time. Most consider this an extremely challenging accent because of it's steepness and it's length.
This is the complete video so you can see exactly what makes Harding a challenging climb.

She's everything to me ...Barbie the desert Tortoise digging her Nest
In American/English we call this reptile a turtle generically & specifically a desert tortoise cause it lives on land & not water & specifically in the Mojave & Sonoran Deserts of North America. Don't tell a Kamodo dragon all dinosaurs went extinct!
The turtle has always been a cultural symbol of longevity & long life & in native american & asian cultures as with the rest of the world.
Scientifically she's called a Gopherus Agassizi, with 3 or more sub species in North America named & identifed by a famous French biologist. They range in the states of California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico & Florida where it's known as a Gopher Tortoise & much smaller & flatter. This reptile has been here before the dinosaurs & one of the first to crawl out of the sea to live in the most driest places in the world & I'm always amazed & wonder Why?
The California desert tortoise is the state reptile & listed as endangered due to habitat loss.
Barberella, is her name, Barbie for short named in honor of Jane Fonda & doll and the sci-fi movie with the same name that made Jane famous & maybe this humble tortoise we can all identify as a MOM....
