IS TUNISIA SAFE TO VISIT IN 2019? (My Family Trip)
I traveled to Tunis, Tunisia for the first time to visit my family living there. I received a lot of questions like Is it safe visit Tunisia as a solo female traveler?
My cousin has been living there for over 3 years so she knew her way around well and acted as my tour guide. My time in Tunis was not nearly enough, but what I was really happy about was getting to see a sliver of cousin's life in Tunis. We met friendly people, ate delicious Tunisian food, strolled by the Mediterranean, went for coffee and sugar donuts, and for hours, did nothing but sit and sing with strangers. I was relaxed and felt safe, and there’s nothing better than having a non local-local take you around. Coming to Tunisia, if just for a day, was an amazing experience.

Capital of Tunisia
Tunis is the sprawling capital of Tunisia, a country in North Africa. It sits along Lake Tunis, just inland from the Mediterranean Sea’s Gulf of Tunis.
It’s home to a centuries-old medina and the Bardo, an archaeology museum where celebrated Roman mosaics are displayed in a 15th-century palace complex. The parklike ruins of ancient Carthage sit in the city’s northern suburbs.

Hammamet, Tunisia Vlog: Part 1
Wooo Hooo! This is Part 1 of my Tunisian Holiday Vlog in Hammamet! I am trying to keep them short and also trying to make sure they do not drag out so much, so expect there to be a few days in one and stuff like that!
Anyway, this was a great trip, the first one without my parents and it went off without a hitch! We were on a TUI trip and stayed at the Steigenberger Marhaba Thalasso Hotel in Hammamet and loved it so much! We were staying in one of the villas, rather than a room in the main hotel and it was just great!
Here’s the hotel we stayed at:

Tunisia Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Tunisia.
Tunis is a North African city with a long history. After the Hasfides and Osmans, the Spanish Moors came but then had to give way to French colonial rule until present day Independence. In the old town, there are more than 700 historic monuments which include 200 palaces, a colourful variety of buildings and numerous mosques.Among shoreline lava rock is the entrance to the Ghar El-Kebir, a collection of sandstone grottos. During Roman times, thousands of slaves were forced to bring building material for Carthage and El Djem from subterranean shafts. In Sousse, the simple fort of Ribat is probably the oldest Islamic building in North Africa, in which Muslim soldiers lived in monastery-like isolation and in the town’s Archaeological Museum there is a fantastic range of mosaics, predominantly from Punic and Roman excavations. Gabes is an oasis town which overflows with luxuriant floral splendour. By horse and carriage visitors can travel through one of the most beautiful maritime oases in Tunisia where, under 500,000 date palms, tobacco, henna, pumpkins, apricots and bananas thrive. The focal point of important caravan routes and trading centre for goods from Libya and Black Africa, Medenine is a very charming and lively city. Its reinforced honeycomb-shaped caves were the extraordinary-looking buildings that many will recall from the film ‘Star Wars’. The Sahara is the largest desert on earth, with different landscapes such as rock deserts, salt deserts and serene oases. Kebili is located on the edge of a huge salt lake and is a typical desert village with a green oasis and Artesian springs which provide water for its fruit and vegetable gardens. Nefta is also a green paradise in the desert, an oasis town that boasts no less than 152 Artesian wells. Dougga contains Tunisia’s most important ruins which nestle in the hills among shimmering olive trees and poppy fields. Endless deserts and fertile oases, busy towns and isolated mountain regions, Roman temples and Muslim mosques: Tunisia is tempting!

IS TUNISIA WORTH VISITING? (Returning to Tunisia)
My first visit to Tunisia was a whirlwind of one short day. What I quickly realized was that 24 hours was not enough time and I planned on coming back. This vlog is about my return to Tunisia and the start of our 7 day road trip through the southern region.

Tunis Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Tunis in Tunisia.
Tunis is the capital of Tunisia and the political, commercial and cultural centre of the country: the Paris of North Africa and a metropolis with a long history. The centre of the city is the Medina, the Arabic old town. Surrounded by the market streets of the souks towers the large mosque of El Zitouna. Apart from the Sidi Oqba of Kairouan, this noble building is the most important religious sanctuary in Tunisia. The central market quarter dates back to the Hafsidic and Early Christian period and the leisurely ambience of the Moorish coffee houses still exists today. The tall, octagonal minaret of the Sidi Youssef Mosque is the earliest Syric building style in Tunisia. Next to the mosque are the securely guarded government buildings that incorporate the architectural styles of the old town. In the labyrinth of souks there is a tiny square with red-green pillars, the former slave market in which human captives were sold for profit. The 18th century mausoleum of Tourbet El Bey contains the tombs of the Husseiniden Dynasty, its stucco walls and marble pillars highlight the influence of Italian Renaissance. Even today the Medina of Tunis enchants all those who experience it and it is one of the oldest and most constantly populated areas of the Mediterranean that is as evocative as an oriental fairytale.

Tunis Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Tunis in Tunisia.
Tunis is the capital of Tunisia and this 'Paris' of North Africa is a metropolis with a long history.
In the centre of the medina, the domed roof of the souk encircles the Olive-Tree Mosque, the spiritual centre of the old town.
The central market district dates back to the Hafsid and Early Christian period. Here, there's something for everyone, many of the goods being skillfully crafted under the watchful eye of prospective purchasers. While strolling through the markets, it's like being part of an Arabian fairy-tale with all the magic of the One Thousand and One Nights.
The tall, octagonal minaret of the Sidi Youssef Dey Mosque is an example of Tunisia's earliest Syric building design and opposite is the Dar-el-Bey, former palace of the Turkish monarchs.
Dar Ben Abdallah is a splendid palace that dates back to the 18th century and since 1975, has incorporated a folklore museum that is well worth a visit. A large cool courtyard is dominated by a central marble fountain that is surrounded by both residential and official rooms. The lavish lifestyle of the 19th century is on full display in numerous rooms with precious furniture and crystal chandeliers, as well as beautifully attired life-size dolls.
Today, Bardo is an elegant suburb of villas but in the 19th century, the Turkish Beys built their palace district within it. The former harem today contains the majestic Bardo Museum.
Tunis has all the wonderful atmosphere of this region's historic and colorful past.

WELCOME TO TUNISIA! INSIDE STAR WARS CANYON (travel vlog 2019)
Welcome to Tozeur Tunisia! This city was made famous by films like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the English Patient. In this vlog, we explore the regions featured in these iconic films: Sidi Bouhlel Canyon, Oasis Chebika, and Tamaghza.
0:25 - 4:00 Chebika (الشبيكة)
We travel from Tozeur (توزر) to Chebika, a mountain oasis in western Tunisia, where we hike through the canyon to find a hot spring and waterfall in the middle of the desert.
4:04 - 5:08 Sidi Bouhlel (aka Star Wars Canyon)
Sidi Bouhlel is a canyon located near the town of Tozeur in Southern Tunisia. It is also commonly known as the “Star Wars Canyon” since it was the film location of the desert planet of Tatooine in Star Wars: A New Hope. It is where the famous pod racing scene was filmed as well as the kidnapping of R2D2 by the Jawas. Other popular films such as Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark and The English Patient were also shot in Sidi Bouhlel.
5:10 Tamaghza
Beautiful waterfall and mountain oasis.
8:25 - 9:55 Tunisian feast in the oasis
In the middle of Tamaghza, we stop to enjoy the Tunisian food grown and made here in the oasis, including Sharba Frik soup, Mechouia salad, brik (a savory pastry filled with egg).
9:58 - 10:40 Tunisian Arabic lesson
Lastly, we join Abdelfattah for a Tunisian Arabia lesson.
