First location we hit in this video is the Tunnel station where hundreds of barrels of Japanese Sake is stored to ferment. Then we go to Takachiho Gorge which is a famous landmark in Miyazaki. It's famous for it's beautiful natural rock formations and waterfalls. They offer travelers the chance to row boats down the gorge. It was a fun time, I really enjoy rowing boats.

According to myths, Takachiho is the place where Amaterasu-omikami, the queen of gods, descended. Takachiho jinja is a shrine built over 1200 years ago on the sacred ground. There used to be 554 shrines in this area. The 88 highest ranking shrines among them were the Takachiho 88 Shrines, and Takachiho Shrine is their soja(総社)(shrine where all relevant gods are enshrined).
A festival called Yokagura(night dances) is popular in the area. Myths are reenacted as Yokagura in a series of 33 episodes depicting the divine quarrel as well as other deeds of the gods. Kagura is a traditional dance performed by local men, its secrets passed down from generation to generation. The most famous of which is when the sun goddess Amaterasu hides in a cave. Her hiding in the cave causes the whole world to be broken into darkness. The Goddess Amenouzume is then said to have performed a amusing dance in front of the cave in order to lured her out. The dances are also a way for the villagers to thank the Gods for a good harvest and to guarantee the sun and the warmth will return in the spring. You can enjoy the re-enactment of the stories of the Gods during the night-long dances.
You can see highlights of yokagura dance EVERYDAY at the Takachiho main shrine.

By car or taxi is the most convenient way to access there.
Some hotels in the area have a free shuttle bus to and from the evening Yokagura performances for staying guests.

National Route 10 is a Japanese highway on the island of Kyūshū. It originates at the intersection with Route 2 in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka and passes through the prefectural capitals of Ōita and Miyazaki, terminating at the intersection with Route 3 in Kagoshima. Route 10 follows the eastern coast along the Inland Sea and the Sea of Hyūga. For much of its length, it parallels the JR Kyushu Nippo Main Line. Route 10 measures 454.8 km in length.

真夏でも涼しい場所で歩き撮りです。撮り終わって外に出たら温度差でカメラのレンズが曇っていました。トンネルの長さは2,055メートル。常時、毎分32トンの湧水量があるとか。

真冬なのに気温12℃という異常な気候に汗だくになりながらも、山頂付近でついに発見した廃トンネル。
その脇に建つ石碑には、このトンネルの由来が記されていた・・・
