Travel Berlin: Turkish Market
Sonia Gil takes a stroll around the Turkish market in Berlin's Kreuzberg. A corner of the classic Berlin neighborhood where Punks and Turks have lived for years turns into a delicious market, and all kinds of Berliners come for produce and mediterranean inspiration. The new Berlin is here.
Maybachufer - The Turkish Market in Berlin
Maybachufer Strasse is a street in Kreuzkolln, a meta-district across the kiez of Kreuzberg and Neukolln. This part of the city is historically a Turkish district full of wonderful shops serving döner kebap and other Turkish specialties.
The Turkish Market is located in the heart of Berlin, just near Kottbusser Tor and to get there you can get either the U1 (Kottbusser Tor Station) or the U8 (Schönleinstrasse Station). The market takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 AM to 6 PM. All the year.
Here, you can find a lot of stalls selling Turkish foods, spicy, cheeses, fresh vegetables and fruits, and household items, Turkish and not. The peculiarities of the Turkish Market located in Maybachufer is the high convenience. All food products are sold at very low prices, this allows you to buy the food for a week with few euros.
In addition to the specialized Lebensmittel stalls, you can also stumble on kiosks that prepare ready-to-eat foods and typically Turkish snacks such as Börek or the Gözleme. Here, you can also find the best avocados and the best bananas in the city!
While there is much to see and do in Berlin, you won’t regret spending time in this Turkish market and you'll also bring home amazing and delicious foods. The market is loved by locals and also by tourists, so is always busy. Especially during the summer, it’s not easy to walk between the people, the stalls, the foods, the bikes and the animals (cats, dogs, and birds) that populate this amazing market in Berlin.

The rapid gentrification of this neighborhood shows deep changes among the streets and between people. A plethora of students, creatives and young professionals avoiding higher rents charged in other parts of Berlin has become the new citizens of this kiez. Northern Neukölln and the south of the Kreuzberg area, has become the Kreuzkölln as the area becomes increasingly fashionable.
In this video, you can see the famous Maybachufer street over the Landwehr Canal. Here you can spot the wonderful Turkish Market, a lot of people chatting, some lovers kissing under the romantic atmosphere of the river. This is absolutely an amazing place and we fully recommend you to go and take part in the revolutionary life of the Kreuzkölln district.

My Favourite Farmers Market in Berlin | Life in Berlin
My favourite farmers market in Berlin is the Markt am Winterfeldtplatz. I love coming to this farmers market because of its wide variety of food stalls. Ep 27⬇See more below⬇
Winterfeldt farmers market is open every Saturday and I come here often since I just love the neighbourhoods of Schöneberg and the Nollendorfplatz food street. You can snack with street food at the farmers market, buy bakery products, fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers. Winterfeldt farmers market offers all kinds of german food from currywurst to strudel. There is a big selection of handcrafts as well. I highly recommend visiting this farmers market, since I think it's the best farmers market in Berlin!

Turkish Market in Maybachufer, Berlin
Of all the outdoor Turkish markets, this one is probably the most famous for it's great location (located between Kreuzberg and Neukölln). If you live close by this Tuesday and Friday market (10am - 6pm) is a must place to do your veggie shopping all year round.

Berlin has the third largest Turkish population of any city in the world. The largest Turkish market in the city runs along the banks of the Landwehrkanal for nearly ½ mile. Kreuzberg, the neighborhood where the market is located, is the center of Turkish immigrant life in Berlin.

Berlin's Turkish Community
For many of Germanys two million Turks, reunification is not a pleasant memory.
In the aftermath of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Turkish migrants were largely overlooked by the government and targeted by radicals, as Germany struggled to reunite.
