Protest at Italian Interior Ministry in Rome over migrant deaths at sea
(18 Jul 2018) Activists and Italian pro-EU, centre-left politicians protested with their hands painted red and raised in the air on Wednesday, after three people were allegedly abandoned, and two of them died, in the Mediterranean Sea on Tuesday.
They said that the red paint symbolised the blood of migrants who die at sea due to the hard line anti-immigration policy of Italian authorities.
I don't want to have my hands blood-stained said Radical party member Leonardo Monaco, accusing Italy's government for the death of hundreds of migrants at sea.
We feel that our hands are full of blood said, Giorgia Linardi, a representative of the German nongovernmental organisation Sea-Watch, raising her, painted red, hands in the air.
We need to have assets at sea that are there to do search and rescue and to make sure that no one is found in the inhumane conditions in which these people have been found yesterday, she added.
On Tuesday, the Spanish rescue group Proactiva Open Arms said that it found a woman and the two bodies of another woman and a toddler amid the drifting remains of a destroyed migrant boat in the Mediterranean Sea.
It accused both a merchant ship sailing in international waters and Libya's coast guard of failing to help the three migrants.
On Wednesday, it said that it wouldn't dock its boat carrying the woman and the two bodies at and Italian port and could not trust how Italian authorities will handle the investigation into the wreckage.
This came after Italian interior minister Matteo Salvini referred to their claims and account of the rescue operation as lies and insults.
Spain later confirmed that it had authorised the rescue vessel to dock in the port of Palma de Mallorca.
Italy's new populist government has vowed to close its ports to aid organizations it blames for encouraging migrant flows across the Mediterranean because human traffickers rely on the rescuers. Rome and the European Union have also trained and financed the Libyan coast guard to halt the flow.

ITALY: TURIN: BRITISH BEEF CRISIS ON AGENDA FOR EU NATIONS SUMMIT
Italian/Nat
British beef may be off the menu, but it will certainly be on the agenda at the European Intergovernmental Conference starting in Turin, Italy on Friday.
Italy itself is already reeling from the panic over B-S-E which has seen British beef banned worldwide this week by the European Union.
The Italian beef industry reports beef consumption has dropped by 20 per cent.
Turin, at the centre of Piedmont in north-west Italy earns a significant income from its beef industry.
In the 1994 financial year, beef exports from the region earned 21 per cent of Italy's Gross Domestic Product.
But according to industry reports the B-S-E scare has seen beef consumption drop by a dramatic 20 per cent in the past week.
Panic has set in, no-one wants to buy beef.
But Italian farmers have defended their product, saying they use traditional methods of feeding which lower the risk of disease.
SOUNDBITE: (Italian)
On this farm we have a very low level of milk production compared to the average because we continue to use traditional food.
SUPER CAPTION: Giancarlo Primo Magnin, Farmer
Wholesalers and retailers who import British beef into Italy are now trucking it back to the U-K to be burned.
Retailers say the entire industry has been hurt badly despite the fact there have been no reports of B-S-E in Italy.
The streets of Turin are covered with European flags, in preparation for the arrival of the European Heads of State.
But outside the butcher shops, butchers are displaying Piedmont-Savoy flags to drive home the message that their beef is local.
SOUNDBITE: (Italian)
In Piedmont we don't need English beef, we have enough of our own, very good and known in the whole world.
SUPER CAPTION: Local Butcher, (Unidentified)
The Mad Cow Disease scare is indeed threatening to push all other relevant issues off the bargaining table at the Turin Summit of European Nations tomorrow Friday.
The British Government keen to get the worldwide ban on British beef lifted is expected to raise the issue.
At the Lingotto centre where the conference will be held, security is tight as technicians and security guards prepare for the arrival of the heads of state.
The building was once a Fiat factory. Now converted into a conference centre it still has a testing track on the rooftop.
But what will test the leaders is how many head of cattle will need to be killed to restore confidence in the crippled British beef industry and in other affected markets such as Italy.

FORME COSTRUITE - Un'opera di Piero Bolla - parte 4 di 4
ENG
CONSTRUCTED FORMS - A work by Piero Bolla in (almost) real time without words
Documentation in (almost) real time of a work created by the painter Piero Bolla (Saluzzo, Italy, 1933) in 2006, constructed through the development of an original method complementing the pictorial matter with the three-dimensional modelling peculiar to the plastic arts (in this case, it would be inappropriate to talk about sculpture in the narrow sense of the word). The subject of this work is a cow, an animal that, with its widespread presence nearly all over the world, has marked, and continues to mark, the civilization and culture of many peoples, represented in a perspective of pretentious timelessness, suggesting, besides its real presence, a symbolic dimension.
ITA

Hungary - Cows herded to Prime Minister's office in dairy demo | Editor's Pick | 23 May 16
Hungarian dairy farmers have marched with some 50 cows near parliament asking the government to lower taxes on all dairy products while claiming that support from Hungary and the European Union is insufficient and ineffective.
The farmers handed over a petition Tuesday to an official from Prime Minister Viktor Orban's office, demanding more talks with the government and complaining that authorities had broken earlier agreements.
Hungary is planning to cut sales tax (VAT) on fresh milk from 18 percent to 5 percent from 2017, but farmers want the lower tax rate to apply to other dairy products, too.
Dairy farmer Imre Hegedus said they were getting 60 to 65 forints (0.21-0.23 US dollars) per litre of raw milk from processors, covering just over half of farmers' production costs.

Celibidache - Musical Phenomenology Lecture (Sub ENG)
Sergiu Celibidache discussing in a public lecture his ideas about music.
This lecture was already available in Italian on Youtube for some time. As I really appreciate Celibidache ideas and philosophy about music and his very personal way to explain it, I wrote the subtitles in English to make it accessible to a wider audience. Sorry in advance for any possible mistake.
One of the things I find fascinating about Celibidache is that, apart from music, he studied and got two degrees in his young age, in Mathematics and Philosophy. I really think that in this lecture you can perceive all of his background: both scientific and philosophical. That's also why I chose to leave most of the words in the most-similar-possible english translation of the ones he chooses in Italian.
Please, feel free to contribute with subtitles in your language if you feel like doing that.
