Introducing The Turnage Theatre / Arts of the Pamlico - Stuart Lannon, Technical Director
It’s definitely one of the more prominent historical buildings in town. The front part, which is the double doors forward, that was all built in 1910, finished construction around 1913. In the 1920’s movies with sound came out, so did the Model T, you could come here and sit in here all day for a $.25 and watch movies in here - A-list movies - for a $.25 or you could go to the Rita Theatre and watch movies there all day for a $.05. It was actually one of the first full time movie theatres they had on the entire Eastern seaboard.
For a small town we’ve got a lot to offer everyone. We’re a very strong arts community. But really the thing that makes Washington home is the people who are here. Everybody here wants to work together and do what we can do to make our community the best it possibly can be.
I’m Stuart Lannon, I’m the technical director and facilities manager of the Turnage Theatre and I love Little Washington.

Live a Little More in Washington NC
Snugly nestled along the north shore of the Pamlico River, Washington, NC, is a small town with a storied past. As any local will proudly tell you, Washington, NC – not D.C. – was the first city in the country to be named after George Washington. In fact, some longtime residents still refer to their town as the Original Washington.
Washington is a study in contrasts. Famous for its laidback charm, there is nonetheless an undeniable vitality at its core. Just a few steps from genteel neighborhoods and centuries-old homes, downtown Washington is a hub of activity. The rebirth of the Harbor District has given rise to a slew of new locally owned businesses, from boutiques and art galleries to restaurants and coffee shops.
All of this progress, we are pleased to report, has not robbed Washington of its soul. Its allure – often quaint, occasionally quirky – remains intact. Washington is still home to scenic waterfront views and spacious wraparound porches, tree-lined streets and lamplit boardwalks. Oh, and crab statues. You’ll find them by the dozens all over downtown Washington. Just ask a local.
Live a Little | Washington, NC
It was the first city in the nation — even before D.C. — that was named in honor of George Washington. Founded in the year 1776, the old port city of Washington, NC is a place where life moves at a more relaxed pace. One perfectly suited to disconnect from the over-stimulated, hyper caffeinated world and reconnect with friends and family. A place to enjoy simple treasures surrounded by elaborate historic lore - like gorgeous pre-century colonial homes and storied old buildings adorned with ornamental brickwork lining the downtown Harbor District. Nestled on the tranquil banks of the Pamlico River - the heart of the Inner Banks - the areas broad rivers spread out in stunning displays of rapturing beauty, inviting a mastery of river language and living to each visitor. Perhaps Mark Twain's words apply equally here when he said, “The face of the river, in time, became a wonderful book . . . which told its mind to me without reserve, delivering its most cherished secrets as clearly as if it had uttered them with a voice. And it was not a book to be read once and thrown aside, for it had a new story to tell every day.” Heritage can’t be shaken here, where American flags hang on every block and neighbors wave hello to you whether you know them or not. Spend some time in Washington, and you’ll find that its charm hard to shake, too.

Introducing The Bank Bistro & Bar - Mary Carolyn Walker
The Bank Bistro and Bar, we’ve been here...coming up on our 3 summer. So we’re still kinda new here. Born and raised here, my dad and I; I came back when I was in my late 20’s. He retired and we decided to open up this restaurant. It’s the coolest place ever and it all kinda magically happened. It genuinely was just kinda magical how it all played out. It was a very easy process getting this going....it really way. The people in this town are genuinely very friendly nice people. So it’s a great thing to be able to every night have people that you know, new people come in, and out-of-towners, and be able to entertain them. My particular favorite thing goat cheese, pecan, cranberry salad. The customers favorite is the salmon. The beekeeper salmon, local honey, pecans encrusted, it’s amazing and everyone loves it. And our carrots are killer. We have carrots that basically taste like candy. So everybody thinks they’re eating candy, but it’s actually healthy. What do you love about Little Washington? Well the major is the river, everybody says that...it’s the river! But the people, knowing people, the roots I have, but it’s so green here and pretty. In the spring and summer it’s just you know, you don’t realize it until you get away from here just how beautiful this place is. It’s truly beautiful. It is! It’s a perfect little small town.
I’m Mary Carolyn Walker from the Bank Bistro and Bar and I love Little Washington.

Real Ghost Footage: Washington, NC
This is raw footage from a short we are filming. We were in downtown (Little) Washington and filming some walking scenes of the main character. I was behind the camera, Taylar was behind me and you can see Rachel, the actress, move through the frame. No one else was around. If you look in the left corner, there is a shadow of a man making a shoveling or sweeping motion. Not too creepy, you may say..........but no one else was there making that shadow or doing that motion. When I saw the footage it actually gave me cold chills and it still does. This is my first true paranormal experience and I can share that with you guys. I called action and the shadow started its work. This could have easily been faked, and I am always skeptical of this kind of thing, but I can't explain this shadow.
I know how easily it could have been faked. But we DID NOT have anyone else by us while shooting and that creeps me out. Again, I know how easily this could have been faked, but It genuinely freaks me out because I know that there was no one there when we shot that night.
