Inside the Turnberry Lighthouse
INSIDE THE TURNBERRY LIGHTHOUSE
As part of owner Donald Trump’s vision for his Ayrshire resort, the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse was transformed as part of a nine-month renovation programme, which also included the Ailsa and King Robert the Bruce (formerly the Kintyre) courses. We recently got to take a look inside the lighthouse...
Only the staircase and bannisters remain from the original look with renowned designer Mary Fox Linton sourcing all of the items and deciding on a nautical theme.
The walk-through video includes access to the main living quarters, which has a 60-inch TV screen and rare wine from a vineyard to Eric Trump, and the two stunning upstairs suites, which boast stunning bedroom, en-suite and roof terrace views to the Ailsa Craig and beyond.
The ground floor is also the halfway house – the perfect place to relax mid-round on a sunny day. A night in the Turnberry Lighthouse doesn’t come cheap though, with prices for one night starting at £3,500.

Trump Turnberry Hotel Transformation
The Trump Organisation bought the World Famous Turnberry Golf resort in Ayrshire Scotland with the aim of making it Europe’s leading golf destination. The resort is benefiting from a multi-million pound renovation, which will see the Ailsa Course having some significant changes to its holes, and the Hotel will be completely redesigned. The inspiration for the hotel draws heavily from the rich history of the area and Scotland’s national heritage, the aim is to make Turnberry a truly special place.
This short video shows what the hotel looked like before it closed in September 2015. Andrew Billick, the Construction Manager, talks us through what is going to happen in each part of the Hotel.
The Hotel is due to re-open in Spring 2016.

The Halfway House, Turnberry Lighthouse
A volcanic island half a billion years old, Ailsa Craig has borne witness to countless events throughout history and prehistory from its station in the Firth of Clyde. Once a haven for Roman Catholics during the 15th century Scottish Reformation, the island was quarried for its rare stone in the 19th and 20th centuries. Long ago disused and utterly uninhabited, Ailsa Craig still stands eleven miles out to sea, presiding over the links at Turnberry, another of its mysteries.
THE ICONIC TURNBERRY LIGHTHOUSE
Standing at 24 metres high, with 76 steps to the top, the Turnberry Lighthouse has marked this coastline since 1873. Rising from the mists to greet ships for over a hundred years, this quintessential icon is one of Turnberry's most powerful charms.
Originally commissioned by the Northern Lighthouse Board to warn passing vessels away from nearby Bristo Rock, the lighthouse is the oldest man-made structure on the Turnberry premises-with the exception of the remains of the 13th-century castle of Robert the Bruce that it marks. The initial plan to erect the lighthouse on the Rock itself proved too dangerous so instead Turnberry Point was chosen. The foundations of the lighthouse stand in what was the moat of Turnberry Castle, thought to be the birthplace of Robert the Bruce in 1274.

Donald Trump Turnberry Scotland Press Conference - Brexit 6/24/16
On the day that Britain voted on a historic referendum to leave the European Union, Donald Trump appeared — flanked by his entire family — at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Turnberry Golf Course in Scotland, one of his many business ventures around the world. And with the eyes of the American media firmly on his reaction to the EU vote as well as, presumably, that whole Presidential race thing he’s involved with, Donald Trump firmly and unapologetically discussed… his golf courses. In a sprawling speech that didn’t resemble anything that people were expecting, the real estate mogul focused on business as usual, scantily making any reference to the election. He barely mentioned the EU vote at all, before describing just how beautiful Turnberry had become after renovations and boasting about the size and scale of the golf course’s suites. “We’ve taken the lighthouse, which is a very, very important building in Florida — I mean in Scotland — and we’ve taken that building and made it something really special,” he said about the #Turnberry lighthouse that dons the ninth hole of the golf course. “It has incredible suites… golfers will stop and they’ll have something to eat,” he continued. Both #CNN and #MSNBC cut away from the feed so their on-air analysts could hammer the speech. CNN’s David Gregory immediately slammed the speech as, “political malpractice.” Katty Kay of BBC News said on Morning Joe that is was, “Stunning that he would come out with a sales pitch.” Eventually, Fox News caught on as well, cutting off the feed though falling well short of blasting the Republican presumptive nominee. Steve Doocy of Fox & Friends simply called him, “A very proud Donald Trump,” before finding some way to draw Trump’s comments as contrary to the policies of President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Trump concluded his remarks by bringing up his children, who all also spoke about the golf course. “I hope we make Turnberry great again,” joked Donald Trump Jr.Donald Trump, in Scotland to reopen a golf course, on Friday morning cheered Britain for voting to leave the European Union. “They took back control of their country. It's a great thing,” Trump told reporters. People are angry, all over the world, they're angry, he added. They're angry over borders, they're angry over people coming into the country and taking over. Nobody even knows who they are. They're angry about many, many things. The presumptive GOP presidential nominee said he expects other places to similarly reject the status quo, saying that “this will not be the last.” Trump expressed similar sentiments in a series of social media posts Friday morning: Self-determination is the sacred right of all free people's, and the people of the UK have exercised that right for all the world to see. #DonaldTrump America is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder w/a free & ind UK. We stand together as friends, as allies, & as a people w/a shared history. #British voters on Thursday chose to leave the EU in a move that could set off a raft of financial and economic uncertainty across the globe. President Obama in April said he wanted the U.K. to remain in the EU and warned that Britain would fall to the back of queue for negotiating trade deals in the U.S. And Federal Reserve Board Chairwoman Janet Yellen warned this week that a #Brexit could have dire implications on the global economy. #eurefresults
