Raʾs al-Ḥadd (Arabic: رَأْس ٱلْحَدّ) is a village in Ash Sharqiyah district in Oman. It is on a point at the entrance to the Gulf of Oman.
The beaches at Ras al Hadd and nearby Ra's al-Jinz are known as a breeding ground for green sea turtles.
Raʾs al-Jinz (Arabic: رَأْس ٱلْجِنْز) or Raʾs al-Junayz (Arabic: رَأْس ٱلْجُنَيْز), located in Ash-Sharqiyyah South Governorate, Oman, is the easternmost point of the Arabian Peninsula. It is a nesting site for green turtles, as also is the beach at the local village of Ras al Hadd. It is home to a well-known turtle reserve. Important archaeological discoveries have also been made at this site, demonstrating connections to the Indus Valley in ancient times.
At Ras al-Jinz, since 1985, a Bronze Age (approximately 2200 to 1900 BC) harbour site has been excavated by a Franco-Italian team.[3] There was a large mudbrick building with seven rooms. These rooms opened onto a corridor. The building seems to have served as a manufacturing workshop. There is evidence of processing of shellfish, turtle shell, flint, and the cosmetics, which was extracted from magnesium ore.
Among the finds, about 20% of the ceramics came from the Indus Valley culture. There were also ceramic fragments inscribed with the Indus script symbols.
Among the Indus wares, large ceramic jars were found in Oman. Their presence at Ras Al Jinz is seen as a clear indication of overseas trade. Thus, during the 3d millennium BCE, Oman must have been part of a great trading systems linked with the Indian Ocean. These jars as interpreted as cargo-shipment containers for dry goods being transported over water.

Ras Al Hadd The Turtle Beach Oman Vlogs#9
One of these beauteous places is Ras Al Hadd, a peaceful beach nearby Sur, which is a two-and-a half hours drive from Muscat, there you can camp, play water sports, and watch turtles, too. Nothing brings warmth and excitement to heart more than spending some quality time by the beach, soaking in the sun, and taking in euphoric smell of the ocean, and listening to the music that crashing waves make. Being a resident of this coastal land, I can proudly say that we have some most beautiful sea spreads in the gulf and a huge range of variety, from enclaves to fishing villages.

Turtle Viewing
One of the most popular eco-tourism activities in Oman is turtle viewing. Oman is home to several important nesting sites for four different species of turtle: the endangered Green Turtle, the Olive Ridley Turtle, the Loggerhead Turtle, and the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtle.
Not known to many, the best time to travel and see the turtle hatching is during summer time, between May and September. Being in the Middle East and understandably so, there is always that hesitation in traveling due to the temperature and humidity. Truth is, Ras Al Hadd enjoys a comfortable weather all through out the year and during summer time averaging 25°c and 36°c.
Turtle nesting tours at Ras Al Jinz allow visitors to witness the spectacle in an intimate fashion without fear of interrupting the creatures themselves. The turtle sanctuary at Ras Al Jinz combines an interactive museum with research laboratories and a wide range of amenities for visitors to learn all about the wonders of these ancient creatures in a family-friendly environment.
Catch the nightly and/or the early morning guided turtle nesting excursions.
For in-house guests, your room rates are inclusive of breakfast, turtle viewing (dawn and evening), entry to Turtle Visitor Center (Museum), tax and service charge.
Night turtle viewing is from 9:00pm and non-inhouse guests have to be in the Reserve by 8:30pm and Dawn turtle viewing is from 5:00am and non-inhouse guests have to be in the Reserve by 4:45am. Please note that timings may change depending on the season. kindly reconfirm.
