Turtle Rehabilitation Centre Cairns Australia
Turtles are hurt in the wild by ghost fishing nets, pollution, hunting from various groups and they also suffer generic disorders where air can get locked under there shell and they float on the surface and cant dive. The Turtle Rehabilitation Center in Cairns Australia helps these injured turtles back to health to then release them back into the wild. Help the organization and donate some dollars to help pay for medicine and x-ray scans, healthy water supply and food. Donate here -

Great Barrier Reef Warriors: Turtle Trackers on the Southern Great Barrier Reef
From the very first summer Nev McLaughlin saw a loggerhead turtle slowly haul its massive body to nest on a sandy beach on Australia’s Southern Great Barrier Reef, something inside him clicked; it made him want to fight for the turtle species.
Every year since that first 1970s trip, Nev and his wife Bev, have made it their mission to protect this majestic creature and rally around its survival. Today, their fighting patch is a 22 km beach at Deepwater National Park, a remote spot sandwiched between Bundaberg and Gladstone halfway up the coast of Queensland. The area is best known for its incredible snorkelling, colourful reefs, tropical islands, and world-class diving. Not for Nev and Bev: they come to tag turtles, relocate eggs, and collect data.
Like so many other reef warriors, these turtle trackers believe the Great Barrier Reef is Australia’s greatest gift to the world. They return, year after year, to make sure their kids and their grandkids get to enjoy this natural wonder.

A Tourist's Guide to Cairns & the Great Barrier Reef, Australia
We fly into Cairns, Queensland. After a night there, we head out to a few of the outer reefs to film some very poor footage underwater. The camera was not really up to the job!
Then we see the bats in Cairns, one of which drops something quite horrid and disgusting.
Frankland Islands is Turtle Paradise on the Great Barrier Reef
Learn a little about one of our favourite locals at Frankland Islands, the majestic Turtle!
Turtles love cruising around the island on the Great Barrier Reef of Tropical North Queensland. You can spot them right off the beach & even take a swim with them. We often spot a few on our guided snorkel tours.
If your dream is to swim with turtles it's time to visit our slice of paradise, Frankland Islands! Located 40 minutes South of Cairns with one of the shortest open water crossings & a limit of 100 guests on the island, Frankland Islands is a unique experience not to be missed!

Turtle feeding in the Great Barrier Reef - Cairns, Australia
The Great Barrier Reef is a distinct feature of the East Australian Cordillera division. It includes the smaller Murray Islands. It reaches from Torres Strait (between Bramble Cay, its northernmost island, and the south coast of Papua New Guinea) in the north to the unnamed passage between Lady Elliot Island (its southernmost island) and Fraser Island in the south. Lady Elliot Island is located 1,915 km (1,190 mi) southeast of Bramble Cay as the crow flies.

Go-Pro Turtle: Tour the Great Barrier Reef Like A Local
Turtle-y awesome!
WWF and the Queensland government have teamed up to help protect hawksbill turtles from poaching.
The group placed a GoPro on the animal as part of a behavioural study.
The turtle is swimming through Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, giving us a ‘local’s’ tour of the coral system. .
