The Union Bridge - the River Tweed
My walk to the Union Bridge west of Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
During my caravanning holiday in East Ord I walked north and south along the River Tweed between Berwick and the Union Bridge.
I love crossing bridges and walking along paths I have never walked before - it's an adventure.

Disused Rail Tunnel, Peebles
At a neat 600 yards in length, Neidpath/South Park/Peebles/Castle Hill Tunnel - take your pick! - threaded the Symington Biggar & Broughton Railway through a projecting shoulder of rock under South Park Woods.
Originally proposed by the Caledonian Railway in 1846, the scheme met with fierce opposition from the North British Railway, operators of the line to the east of Peebles. It eventually saw steam in 1864.
In the early part of the 20th century, Nobel Prize winning scientist C T R Wilson used the tunnel - after traffic had ceased for the night - to conduct experiments with his cloud chamber to prove (or not) the existence of cosmic radiation.
The line saw a considerable amount of traffic during World War II and it is often rumoured that the tunnel served as a hiding place for the Royal Train while the King and Queen were inspecting the damage caused by the Blitz on Clydeside. However the fact that the route is single track and a stabled train would effectively block it casts much doubt on this story.
The tunnel remained operational until 7th June 1954 although the passenger service had ended four years earlier. It was latterly used by the Wemyss & March estate for the movement of timber.
Costing £14,431 to drive from either end and a central shaft, the bore is brick-lined for most of its length but with masonry portals. Although the western section is straight, a southerly curve is encountered around 150 yards from the east end. There are no refuges but, close to the centre, an unlined chamber is cut into the northern wall.
Today Neidpath Tunnel benefits from a Grade B listing.

Abandoned Railway Line Selkirk Branch Scottish Borders 2018
Hi5 everyone if you’re reading this you’re awesome.
This is the first part of a video retracing the old abandoned railway which once served Galashiels to Selkirk closed since the 50s and at its height in 1870s was very popular with over 10 trains per day.
The Scottish Borders lost all of its railway after a political direction towards the more taxable motorcar, nearly everywhere you go in the Scottish Borders you find old abandoned railways lines and you can only imagine how awesome these steam trains galloping through the Scottish Borders countryside must have been!

Where was the Battle of Mons Graupius?
A Great enigma has puzzled historian researchers............. Lost in History, was the location of the Battle of Mons Graupius, around the years 83-84 AD the might of the Roman Army under Argicola defeated the Caledonian tribes. Son in law of Argicola, Tactius whom was Roman senator & appointed as Historian, regarded in high esteem by the Romans. Tactius late on in his career wrote a brief overview about Pontius Pilate and Christ's execution and the early Christian followers. Here is the quandary, Tactius account of the Great Mons Graupius Roman victory is lacking in any detail, one could argue his skilled art off Inadequate facts that give rise to his own Name. Tacitus was a master of victorious Army writing, his propaganda tactic was to out wit the enemy, so that the real reason for fighting and its location may be diluted, perhaps Tacitus & Agricola engineered a modified location to put others off the trail, the exact site of the Battle of Mons Graupius to date is still lost, this enigma has puzzled historian researchers thru the ages, but many come to the conclusion that the North East corner of Scotland, near if not on the Grampian range of Mountains is the most probable site that hosted the MG Battle, one place that may of been overlooked was the upper Tweeddale Valley, the map Scotiae tabula that dates back to around 1570s shows the place name Mons Graupius or Graupius Mons clearly with in the Hills, South of Edinburgh, this area near Peebles was home to keeper of the Grail key, Scottish wizzard Merlin (Merlinus Caledonius) whom lived around 500 years on from the Mons Graupius Battle, could it really be the Wizzard was-is the Guardian to the Lost Battle Site, what we do know 35-40 years on following the Battle of MG and the mysterious disappearance of the Ninth Legion, where 5,000 of Rome's Elite soldiers vanished into the Scottish Wilderness? News was conveyed to Hadrian himself & chartered ships to Britannia's shores, to find clues of the Lost Legion, on his fact finding mission Hadrian was spooked and immediately following his visit, orders for the Wall on the 55 degrees north, between Carlisle and Newcastle to be built, great questions now ponder over the Wall & Battle of MG, to this day.......could it really be Divine Forces where at work in Scotia's Lands a few generations after the time of Christ ? This early legacy draws us to look back at the near Grampian- Graupius homonym riddle word Grampus which may be a pet variant for Grandpa(s) this word is also recognized as being a sign given as Grampus is used as a popular name for many whales especially the black and white killer, which connects the latin name to raise- Risso with the Grampus dolphin, linked to the Greek oracle messenger seat of Delphi meaning Dolphin........ the in between years gives us, Grau, German for Gray, while the late pi-pi-late of us, proceeds ourselfs to the 3rd Day out of Darkness (2001) fulfilling scripture Risso promise of the Sun-Son's Light............John 3:14 King James Version (KJV)
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
