WA.NT Trip Part 5 | Kakadu National Park | NT
Kakadu National Park, one of the biggest Wildlife parks in the Northern Territory... Only because they don't have many! ????
In this episode we visit Jim Jim Falls, Gunlom Falls, Barramundi Gorge (Maguk), Gunlom Falls and Motor Car Falls. All of them are very different and special in their own little way.
Hiking to the top of Jim Jim Falls is a highlight, with the spectacular views of the valley below.
Sadly there was virtually no 4wding in this video and everything was very accessible to almost any high clearance vehicle. But the spectacular gorges and waterfalls made up for it!
Fun Fact: A scene of the Australian movie Crocodile Dundee was filmed at the bottom of Gunlom Falls!

CROCODILES AND WATERFALLS, Why You Need To Travel Kakadu Australia!
3 days in 3.5 minutes. From seeing 5 meter killer crocs to swimming under massive waterfalls to jumping off cliffs (and chipping a tooth...) Kakadu and Lichfield are must do’s for anyone travelling to Australia.
7 months into our travels in Australia we had some of the best days here.
We started our trip going to Mary river which has one of the highest concentrations of crocodiles in the world and is home to where the worlds largest living crocodile was found. We took a boat and saw a monster 5 meter croc (3rd one we show) as well as cool birds called jabirus.
We then went to Ubirr which is a sacred place for the aboriginal tribes in the area with stunning views in the evening.
Day 2 we went to Jim Jim falls which had freshwater crocodile tracks going into the water we were swimming in! Apparently “freshies” aren’t interested in humans so probably won’t attack unless provoked... there are signs warning that “salties” (saltwater crocs and the biggest and most dangerous type) could be there as they travel anywhere hey like when the wet season kicks in.
After that it was twin falls and the onto our third day in Lichfield.
Litchfield had the best waterfalls by far. We went to buley rock pools and practiced the art of synchronised swimming (my technique was impeccable...).
Florence falls was by far the most beautiful with the highest rocks to jump off from (and hence the chipped tooth at the end), however due to being left behind by the group I left my GoPro locked in the bus and missed it so there are just a couple shots of it at the end I’m afraid!

Jim Jim Falls • Kakadu National Park • Northern Territory
17-18 June 2016
The drive to Jim Jim Falls is long and bumpy, but well worth the trek! Once you've driven for around 45-60 minutes down the dirt road, the hike to the falls is a further 30-45 minutes over rocky terrain. The water in the gorge was AMAZING, freezing and breathtaking. Apparently there are freshwater crocs in there, but we didn't see any. I highly recommend the swim across to the waterfall and then climbing up and standing on the ledge. This is nature at it's finest.
Gunlom Falls ????- part of the Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory Australia
Travel to the Northern Territory most unique waterfall and endless plunge pool - Gunlom Falls. What a great day! Gunlom Falls is located in the Kakadu National Park, around 330 k from Darwin -and it was well worth the trip. While you are there make sure you enjoy the amazing Gunlom Falls infinity pool - its been carved out by nature over thousands of years. Gunlom Falls infinity pool is located at the top of the falls and is a challenging hike, but can be easily done. Once you get to the top the views are amazing and the water cool (temperature hit 37 deg when we were there) inside the infinity pool. Pack your picnic and eat on site (make sure you take your rubbish with you).
For a bit of fun we sent up the Phantom 3 Standard drone to truly capture the scenery - WOW!
We did try to get to Jim Jim falls but we ran out of time.
We also stopped at the entrance to the Kakadu National Park for a photo with the welcome sign - that was something we will treasure (we even snuck in a timelapse video as the sun was setting).

Kakadu National Park in the Wet Season
Kakadu National Park, Australia
I've always wanted to see the Jim Jim Falls area during the wet season. The area is inaccessible from December to May when the water levels are at their highest. The only way to see the falls during this time is by light aircraft.
