Top 10 Family Friendly Trails Western Washington
More Trails GPS + Video: botnw.com
Western Washington is rich with adventure for families of all types.
To get started, here are ten of our favorite family-friendly trails.
GPS + Video Guide:
1. Discovery Park Outer Loop Trail: Ask a Seattleite what the biggest most spectacular park in the city is chances are they will reply “Discovery” without missing a beat.
With dramatic open vistas from the south bluffs, descending the winding trails, through the woods to the rocky beach the Outer Loop Trail has it all.
2. Point Defiance Perimeter Loop Trail: Busy beaches to quiet secluded forest, old growth trees, high bluffs and spectacular Puget sound views; you will see them all on the outer loop trail.
3. Barclay Lake Trail: A short tree covered streamside hike to Barclay lake is a perfect diversion for little legs with a refreshing dip under the massive Mount Baring as the reward.
4. Twin Falls: Accessible from two directions, the Twin falls trail follows along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River to the dramatic bridge-crossing viewpoint.
5. Iron Goat Trail: This historical gateway is a wonderful outing for scenery and deepening appreciation of the perseverance of the thousands of workers that forged the passage through this section of the Cascades.
6. Lake Dorothy Trail: Abundant with great swimming and some prime campsites. Lake Dorothy is a popular destination for these very reasons.
7. Blue Lake Trail: Steep in places but well graded this moderate hike arrives at beautiful North Cascades alpine Blue Lake.
8. Ozette Triangle Trail: The classic Ozette Triangle with three stretches of trail boardwalk to beaches and forest connects the loop at the western most point in the continental United States.
9. Deception Pass Trails: With jaw dropping views around nearly every corner, this spectacular seaside route travels across tide pools, beaches, bridges and bluffs.
10. Greenwater Lakes Trail: Multiple river crossings, side waterfalls, massive trees and dramatic views down the Greenwater River gorge make this an engrossing hike for the entire family.
So the next time greet a Saturday morning with a sense of adventure and ask yourself what in the world are we going to do today? Remember, the trails await!
The next two steps are up to you.

Hiking Twin Falls, Washington
We went on a hike to Twin Falls on July 4th, and I had my 5D Mark III on hand. I had really only planned on capturing some stills of the waterfall, so the only gear I had was the camera and my monopod. This is just some basic stuff, but the scenery was awesome.

Bio/Purpose for This Channel
MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT
Born in Pittsburgh, PA , I was surrounded by individuals who chose to simply go through the motions and stick to the norm. From a young age I realized that I wanted to challenge the status quo not by dreaming, but by DOING. So a month after graduating I moved 2,057 miles away from home (if using google maps) to Scottsdale, AZ.
At the beginning of this year (4 years later) I realized my life's passion was to explore the world through hiking adventures and life changing experiences. This is that journey.

Franklin Falls Waterfall Hike, Snoqualmie Pass, Washington
Franklin Falls is on Denny Creek between North Bend and Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 in Washington State. It is in the median area between the east and west bound lanes of the freeway in a section where the lanes are separated by a wide expanse of forest land.
We hiked from the trail head to Franklin Falls, about a mile, over a well groomed trail that featured very little difficulty.
We were there in mid-May so the water was flowing pretty heavily. As I understand, in the hot summer months, though the creek isn't as full, it's still a good time to visit these falls. Since you can hike right to the base of the falls, the cool spray from the waterfall is very refreshing on a hot day.
In this video, I share some photos that we took during our hike at Franklin Falls.
Don't forget to subscribe to our channel. It will feature many more videos of our adventures around the Pacific Northwest. For 2014, our focus is on finding as many waterfalls as we can get to.
Reaching the Peak - Garwood Dental - North Bend, WA
Dr. Kelly Garwood didn’t have to move mountains to open her practice in a new office. It just looks like she did from her operatories. That’s because Mount Si towers over Garwood Dental’s backyard in North Bend, Wash.

Seattle in four days| Snoqualmie Falls, Washington State Capitol, Not really in Seattle!
Our fourth and last full day in Seattle wasn't actually spent in Seattle. We drove an hour to Olympia Washington to visit the state capitol and then to Snoqualmie falls!
I definitely think the falls should be a quick stop if you're visiting Seattle! It's a thing of beauty!
Tinkham Mountain - Washington State
Tinkham Mountain, located next to the Pacific Crest Trail just south of Snoqualmie Pass, is a fantastic place to explore and experience the true essence of the Pacific Northwest. This area offers fantastic mountain scenery, and with some extra effort, the opportunity to enjoy wilderness camping, in complete, relaxing and unencumbered solitude.

TrailDudes Presents: Hardy and Rodney Falls
In the TrailDudes second Washington hike, we take on the trail to Rodney Falls, catching a peek at Hardy Falls along the way. Watch as we stand on a waterfall's edge, eat some TrailDudes TrailNuts, do some impromptu rock climbing, and keep up our Bigfoot search.
The trail is fairly easy (aside from our off the beaten path adventures) and the views are stunning, as they always are for the scenic Columbia River Gorge. Enjoy the trail guide, and share your experience.
