Wild Sculpture Trail of Sundance Provincial Park (Sundance Creek Valley and Hoodoos)
#WildSculptureTrail
Along the trail you will observe incredible sandstone formations naturally sculptured by the wind. Certain parts of the trail offer a spectacular skyline view of the Sundance Valley. From here you will have a clear view of the blue lakes below. Along the trail there are many fresh water springs. The length of the trail 1-way is 9 kilometres. Please be aware that you will be traveling on active logging and oilfield roads.Location: Follow Switzer Drive to the Valley District, turn left onto the Willow Creek Road turnoff. Drive 5 kilometres and turn right at the Emerson Creek Road. Take a right. Follow Emerson Creek Road signs until you get to Emerson Lakes Campground, approximately kilometre 59 on the yellow signs. Continue for 8 kilometres past Emerson Creek Campground and you will come to a parking lot. There should be a sign stating Wild Sculpture Hiking Trail. At the entry of the trail there is a small booth, which should have information about the trail.

Wild Sculpture Trail is a 13.7 kilometer lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Yellowhead County, Alberta, Canada that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, camping, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until September.
Distance:13.7 km
Elevation Gain:440 m
Route Type:Out & Back
camping, hiking, nature trips, bird watching, forest lake views, wildlife blowdown, & over grown off trail.
The Wild Sculpture Trail is approximately 7 km in length (one way). The hoodoos occur between km one and two, making them accessible to those who desire a short, spectacular hike. Please treat the hoodoos with respect, as the soft sandstone sculptures are easily vandalized and eroded. The forest in this area reveals the diverse plant life that is specifically indigenous to the area. Abundant populations of beaver and waterfowl can be observed on Beaver Lake. Moose, deer, bear, marten, and many types of songbirds are only some examples of the other species that also call this valley home. There is an un-maintained trail that travels further into the Park from the south end of the Wild Sculpture Trail. This un-maintained trail travels along the north side of the three lakes found within the Park. There are also several un-maintained creek crossings – travel this trail at your own risk and be prepared for a wilderness experience. The Wild Sculpture Trail is a hiking trail for people with moderate hiking experience. The trail has very little overall elevation gain as it follows the Sundance Valley.

A drive to the majestic Kakwa Falls.
A fantastic off-roading trip to the Kakwa Falls, 168 kms SW of Grande Prairie, AB. It takes about 3 hrs to drive the last 30 odd kms. You have to cross numerous streams, climb banks, extremely uneven surface and drive on streams itself. Make sure you have strong legs and a very sturdy 4x4 off-road vehicle.

Kakwa Provincial Park - First Descent of Jarvis Creek - Packrafting in Northern British Columbia

Subscribe to his channel here: SUBSCRIBE to my NEW PACKRAFTING channel here: Trip Description by Luke: On this trip Ben Scholten and I took a route suggested by Ben Brochu. We hiked over the mountains in Kakwa Provincial Park in British Columbia and packrafted out Jarvis Creek. Along the way we saw a bear, glaciers, a river flowing into a cave, and a valley that people rarely visit. This was one of the more challenging packraftng trips I've done because we went into it without a lot of information. I could not find detailed satellite images of it Jarvis Creek We knew there were some rapids but that was it. Also I was not sure the route I'd planned over the mountains would work or whether we'd get cliffed out and have to turn around. In the end the route worked and it was an amazing trip but it's not for beginners.

RV Nuts Are Not Just For Squirrels in Canada...
Just back from Southern California and I am camping again in the RV near Emory Creek Provincial Park campground just south of historic Yale, British Columbia, Canada.
In spite of camping in the hinterland forest, they just installed a new cell tower (and data link) near me on the TransCanada highway, thus allowing me to upload this video from the middle of nowhere...lol.
