A brief history of Haunted Hills Road, Newborough
The Haunted Hills are located on the Eastern side of Latrobe City, just after Moe. The Haunted Hills boast a story unique to our area alone.
It has a rich history affecting towns as far as Lakes Entrance and the snow fields. The haunted hills road was the main land route from Lakes Entrance to Melbourne. Travelers were forced to take the highroad due to the swamp between Koo Wee Rup and Moe. The swamp was drained after the railway was put through the haunted hills in 1879.
The Haunted Hills has a ghost story, some say this is a criminal conspiracy.
Haunted Hils Tours run guided walking tours in Latrobe City and Rosedale.
Haunted Hills tours reveal Gippsland in a new way.
Giving you so many more places to check out.
Even locals are amazed at the things they learn about their own area.
Walking is a great way to slow down and unwind.
It's great for the body and mind.
Removing the pressures of the road and day.
Located two hours from Melbourne along the Prince's Fwy, it is a great place to plan a stop.

Top 5 Victoria Regional Hotspots
Regional Victoria is now the strongest market in Australian real estate. Even as the Melbourne boom subsides, the state’s regional markets are rising strongly and delivering the strongest price growth to be found anywhere in the nation.
Our Spring survey of sales activity identified 47 markets in Regional Victoria with rising demand, maintaining the record position established in the Winter survey.
We also identified 61 towns or suburbs which have recorded double-digit price growth in the past year and all but two of them have had solid-to-strong growth in the latest quarter, which means prices are still rising.
New growth markets have emerged in this latest survey and some of the previous market leaders have subsided.

Lightning strikes trigger bushfire emergency southeast of Melbourne.
Raging bushfires sparked by lightning strikes in Victoria’s Bunyip State Park are being driven by high winds toward towns and the Princes Highway, with emergency officials fearing there is worse to come.
“We are aware of a number of properties amongst the fire-affected area and some losses would have occurred through that area,” Gippsland CFA regional agency commander Trevor Owen told The New Daily on Saturday evening.
The CFA commander said property losses were “unconfirmed”, but firefighters were expecting sheds, buildings and properties to have been lost.
Robert Trigg, from Pakenham Upper, fled the fire’s anticipated path with his wife and son, plus the family dog and three horses to take shelter in Berwick’s Akoonah Park.
“This is potentially as bad as I’ve seen,” he told the ABC. “We don’t expect to be going home soon.”
No deaths or injuries have been reported so far.
“The real risk is [Sunday]. The fire is already 3400 hectares – that’s much bigger than what went through in 2009 in the [Bunyip State] park,” Mr Owen said.
“We’re concerned because we have further forecast strong northerly winds tomorrow so we’re making all efforts that we can to try [to] prevent the head of the fire from spreading,” he said.
“The fire has been building and growing in width and the likelihood of it impacting a number of towns including Maryknoll, Garfield, Garfield North and Bunyip in particular are of concern tomorrow [Sunday],” he said.
More than 300 Victorian firefighters battled the blaze on Saturday and more resources from western Victoria are expected to help on Sunday.
Firefighters were unable to fight the blaze overnight, with Mr Owen calling the situation “too unsafe” due to smoke and wind conditions.
The network of fires includes a fire in Dargo in far eastern Victoria and a fire near Budgeree and Yinnar South, south of Morwell.
Emergency relief centres have been set up at the Pakenham Hall and at Morwell’s Kernot Hall in central Gippsland.
Victoria Police issued an alert at 12.15pm on Saturday that the Princes Freeway had been closed in both directions between Nar Nar Goon interchange and the Princes Highway in Drouin. It is expected the freeway will remain closed for some time on Sunday.
Due to the heat and fires, V/Line train services are running on their “extreme heat timetable” on the Gippsland line on Sunday.
An emergency warning was also been issued for Budgeree, Budgeree East, Jeeraland, Jeeralang Junction, Jeeralang North, Jumbuk, Yinnar South, Boolarra, Churchill, Grand Ridge, Hazelwood and Yinnar in Gippsland.
People at Cornucopia, Garfield North, Maryknoll, Tonimbuk, Nar Nar Goon and Tynong North were on Saturday told it was too late to leave and they should shelter indoors as the blaze continues to travel south.
The fires were the result of a severe heatwave that has scorched southern Australia in recent days, with temperatures rising above 37 degrees Celsius prompting bushfire warnings east of Dargo, near Morwell and around Wilson’s Promontory in Victoria, and in south-eastern parts of Western Australia and in Tasmania.
Longtime Tonimbuk resident Julie Cronin initiated her fire plan on Friday afternoon and said she had not experienced a similar fire emergency since the Black Saturday bushfires on February 7, 2009.
“The community is banding together … I am devastated as I had to leave the horses behind,” she told YouTube TV Española 24/7 on Saturday.
“There are multiple bushfires in and around the Bunyip State Park that are out of control,” an alert reads.
“Firefighters have not been able to stop the spread of the fire. Staying close to a building you can shelter in is the safest option as conditions can change suddenly,” the alert says.
Country Fire Authority incident controller Lachie Gales said an emergency relief centre had been set up at the Pakenham Hall.
“In the areas that are impacted by the largest areas of the fire, there are not many households in that particular little valley,” he said.
“The fire in the northern part of the park will be spreading south through spotting.
“It will spot into areas where it’s hard to put crews on the ground so we’ll be relying on aircraft to prevent that joining up with the southerly fire.”
As of 3pm on Saturday, there were 32 emergency and watch and act warnings, with emergency services responding to 101 incidents across the state.

Bushfires destroy more than 30 houses in Australia's Victoria state
Bushfires destroy more than 30 houses in Australia's Victoria state ['Bushfires burning across the Australian state of Victoria for a week have destroyed more than 30 houses and burnt nearly 70 other buildings with most of the blazes still active, the emergency authorities said on Saturday. No deaths or injuries have been reported in the fires. A record-breaking heatwave delivered the hottest start to March on record for the southern third of Australia, a country prone to deadly bushfires as a result of remote terrain, high summer temperatures and flammable eucalyptus bush. The Insurance Council of Australia declared late on Friday the Bunyip State Park fire, Victoria’s highest-risk blaze burning east of Melbourne, a catastrophe, which gives policy-holders priority by insurers. “It is too early to place an estimate on losses so far, and the full extent of property losses may take several weeks to be known,” the Council cited its General Manager of Communications Campbell Fuller as saying in a press release. In addition to the 29 houses that were destroyed in that fire, two houses were damaged but deemed habitable. Two homes were destroyed elsewhere in the state in other fires. More than 100,000 hectares of land had been burnt by bushfires across Victoria since the start of March, a spokeswoman for the Emergency Management Victoria said. Milder weather conditions over the weekend were expected to aid firefighters who are still battling some 17 fires throughout the state. In 2009, the worst bushfires on record destroyed thousands of homes in Victoria, killing 173 people and injuring 414 on a day the media dubbed “Black Saturday”.
