Magnox North - Winners of the Wales Cares Team of the Year Award
Magnox North Ltd have been recognised for their commitment to responsible business, securing the 'Wales Cares Team of the Year' Award at Business in the Community's Wales Awards for Excellence.
Magnox North Wylfa site employs 650 full time personnel on Anglesey and safely generates 23 million kilowatt hours of low carbon electricity, enough to meet more than 40% of Wales' electricity needs on a typical day.
As part of Wylfa's management programme, the team was challenged to embrace the company's corporate responsibility principles by making a sustainable, positive contribution to the community with a team build activity at Tyddyn Mon - a unique day care, training and support facility for people with learning disabilities living on Anglesey.
Magnox North is the site licence company run by EnergySolutions, the managmeent and operations contractor responsible for the daily operation of the five Magnox North sites under contract to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
The Wales Cares Team of the Year Award 2010 was sponsored by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
