This lively well established market takes place at an old railway station which is now part of the Newcastle metro. The weekend market combines antiques, books and food. Tynemouth Metro station is one of the oldest stations on the Tyne and Wear Metro network. The railway station was opened in 1882 by the North Eastern Railway and is now a Grade II listed building...
Only the central portion of this once vast station now used by the Metro has been refurbished. The old ticket office, waiting room and porters rooms are now being use by various businesses, including a newsagent, cafe and restaurant. The regular Market has undergone changes and is under new management, up grading the market which is held on both sides of the station. The Friends of Tynemouth Station hold book fairs several times a year, and they also arrange the displays of artwork that are regularly seen in the central section of the bridge. In 2007, English Heritage placed the station on its at-risk register of notable buildings in need of restoration. Wikipedia.

I managed to save this from a video I did while on holiday at Whitley Bay back in about 1988. The quality is not particularly good, but it should be enough to see how it's changed since then. Hope you enjoy.

A walk around the ever popular market in Tynemouth Metro station
Tynemouth
Tynemouth is located as the name suggests at the mouth of the River Tyne. It is in a particularly attractive location and offers an interesting 900 year old castle and historic priory.
My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland. I have produced a number of films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occasional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects
There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers. Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Trip to Tynemouth Market
There's a place that I love the most, that is the Tynemouth Market and this time I wanted to try something new for me and that is the making a small video for this trip to this amazing old Victorian (ex-train/ now-metro) station, where every weekend the market is on and where you can find delicious food, creative crafting and wonderful treasures.

Tynemouth Priory & Castle, Tynemouth
Tynemouth Castle is located on a rocky headland (known as Pen Bal Crag), overlooking Tynemouth Pier.
The moated castle-towers, gatehouse and keep are combined with the ruins of the Benedictine priory where early kings of Northumbria were buried.
The coat of arms of the town of Tynemouth still includes three crowns commemorating the tradition that the Priory had been the burial place for three kings.

We're a big fan of the coast, so headed to Tynemouth to try and encapsulate the essence of this beautiful North East Village. Hopefully, we've managed to do it a little justice...

The Market: A Day in the Life at Tynemouth Market
A short documentary piece I did for my final assignment at Newcastle College. The film is essentially just what the title describes: A day in the life at Tynemouth Station's weekend markets. It's been tough, but it got done in the end. Hope you all enjoy!
