Per Eng, local artist in Alvdal, Norway
This video shows the home and property of Per Eng, a talented artist who lived in Alvdal in central Norway. He was a very creative person and decorated his garden in a very personal way. Check out the birdhouse village - it has a church and everything. :-) He is now deceased unfortunately, but he was a talented guy. He was a friend of my grandmother's, that's how I knew him. :-)
Per Ostigaard Memorial Service slideshow
Per Ostigaard, 94 of Hoffman, Minnesota, departed this life on July 24, 2018 due to complications from pneumonia at St Therese at Oxbow Lake in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota surrounded by his family.
Per was born in Tynset, Norway to Olaf and Signe Marie Ostigaard on March 5, 1924. He has one sister Eva and four brothers, Vidar, Olav, Lars and Arne. Arne is the only surviving sibling.
In 1944, during the Nazi occupation of Norway, Per escaped the Nazis by skiing all night through difficult terrain to cross the border to freedom in Sweden. His father, an Army officer was arrested by the Nazis and sent to a prison camp in Poland. They both returned safely to Norway when the war was over.
In 1950, he married Lina Bergliot Sigrid Vatsaas (Divorced 1972) and they immigrated to the United States by sailing on the Stavangerfjord and coming through Ellis Island in 1951. Per and Bergliot settled in Minnesota and they have five children, Vivian (Jay Dec’d-2013)) Solberg, Timothy (Carrie) Ostigaard, Susan (Dale) Teal, Mary Ostigaard and Erik (Tawnya) Ostigaard. They are also blessed to have 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Per worked most of his career as a Cardio Vascular Perfusionist (operated the heart-lung machine) where he had the privilege to work with many health pioneers in the new field of open-heart surgery. Although he enjoyed his career as a Perfusionist, his real passion was classical music.
An accomplished violinist, Per loved playing the violin. He loved playing classical tunes along with many traditional Norwegian melodies. He competed in numerous fiddle contests and played in a Norwegian folk trio. He played violin in several of his grandchildren’s weddings including the most recent one in Colorado on May 26, 2018.
An avid cross-country ski racer, Per raced in over 40 American Birkebeiner Ski Races over 34 miles long. He also raced several times in the original Birkebeiner in Bergen, Norway. He was almost 92 during his last race. We think he was the oldest ski racer on the planet.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the folks at the Hoffman Senior Center and to the pastors and congregation of Lowry Community Covenant Church. Per always spoke very fondly of the love and fellowship he enjoyed with you.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Lowry Community Covenant Church, 316 Bryce Ave, Lowry, MN 56349. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lowry Community Covenant Church.

Skydiving over Molde, Norway October 13th 2012
A beautiful autumn-day in Norway.
My birthday present was a surprise on my birthday. I was overwhelmed, very happy and immediately agreed to do the skydive. This was a present that I never would have been without. I also didn't know anything about it until just some minutes before I went in the plane.
It was my first jump, but will for sure not be the last.
I want to thank my supervisor, Håvard Rognerud and the photograph, Shane Dunn.
Taking off at Notodden, Norway.

Jevnaker
Norway 2016 – Video 18 of 21
On the way to Lillehammer, we stopped to see the Hadeland Glassworks factor located in Jevnaker, which was just west of the Oslo International Airport. We also learned that this was the home town of Linda’s Great Grandfather before he immigrated to America. We went to the community center in town a short distance from the glass factory, and they found the church where family members were buried. A lady doing work at the cemetery recognized the family name and took us to the farm where we believe Linda’s Great Grandfather lived prior to immigrating.

Clip recorded 3rd May 2019.
NSB Class 92 (Norwegian: NSB type 92) is a class of 15 diesel multiple units built by Duewag for the Norwegian State Railways (NSB). The two-car trains were delivered in 1984 and 1985, and were put into service on the Røros Line and southern part of the Nordland Line—which later became the Trøndelag Commuter Rail. Later, they also entered service on the Meråker Line as part of the international Mittnabotåget service. Previously, the trains were also used on the Solør Line, further north on the Nordland Line and on the now electrified Arendal Line. In 2000, a unit was involved in the Åsta accident; which killed 19 people. The trains were refurbished in 2005 and 2006, and NSB plans to replace them by around 2019. Each twin unit seats 168 people, is 49.45 meters long and weighs 92 tonnes. The front car is powered with two electric motors, giving a power output of 714 kilowatts (957 hp) and a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour (87 mph).
The units were built by Duewag in 1984 and 1985 and consist of two cars, giving a seating capacity of 168 people. A double-unit is 49.45 meters (162.2 ft) long and weighs 92 tonnes (91 long tons; 101 short tons), of which the motor car weighs 58 tonnes (57 long tons; 64 short tons). Only the one car is powered, and is equipped with a Daimler-Benz OM424A prime mover which powers two electric motors, giving a power output of 714 kilowatts (957 hp). The trains are capable of 140 kilometers per hour (87 mph) and are equipped with vending machines. The trailer units were delivered with three different layouts: with standard seating, with seating and a freight room, and with seating and a freight and post room. The latter was planned used on the Røros Line, but after delivery, the railway postal service was closed.

Trondheim is a city and municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway.
Trondheim lies on the south shore of Trondheim Fjord at the mouth of the River Nidelva.
Trondheim has an international airport, Trondheim Airport, Værnes, situated in Stjørdal, which is Norway's fourth largest airport in terms of passenger traffic. Værnes has non-stop connections to cities such as London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Berlin, among others. The domestic route Trondheim - Oslo is among the busiest air routes in Europe with around 2 million passengers annually.
Major railway connections are the northbound Nordland Line, the eastbound Meråker Line to Åre and Östersund in Sweden, and two southbound connections to Oslo, the Røros Line and Dovre Line.
The Coastal Express ships (Hurtigruten: Covering the Bergen–Kirkenes stretch of the coast) call at Trondheim, as do many cruise ships during the summer season. Since 1994 there is also a fast commuter boat service to Kristiansund, the closest coastal city to the southwest. Every morning the Hurtigruten ships have one southbound and one northbound arrivals and departures in Trondheim.

Melhus (or Nedre Melhus) is the administrative centre of Melhus municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located in the lower Gauldalen valley, along the river Gaula, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south of the city of Trondheim.
The village (originally the prestegjeld) is named after the old Melhus farm (Old Norse: Meðalhúsar), since the first Melhus Church was built there. The first element is meðal which means middle and the last element is the plural form of hús which means house. The farm is one part of a greater and older farm, which had the name Óðinssalr which means the salr (mead hall) of Odin.
