Kurume is a city located in Fukuoka prefecture, Japan.
The city has an estimated population of 303,277 and a population density of 1,319.51 persons per km². The total area is 229.84 km².
The city was founded on April 1, 1889.
Famous people from Kurume include: the family of the Bridgestone Tire Corporation (Shojiro Ishibashi), George Shima (the Potato King of California), the pop group Checkers, the singer and actress Seiko Matsuda, anime creator Leiji Matsumoto, the television celebrity, Rena Tanaka, actor Ryo Ishibashi and the late Izumi Sakai of Zard. The Bridgestone Tire Corporation has its origins in Kurume as traditional footwear manufacturers, producing the sock-like shoe (tabi), used by farmers. They found that by coating the bottom of tabi with rubber, farmers could be protected from the invasion of parasitic worms that live in rice paddies.
Famous traditional products of Kurume are the kasuri (絣), roughly woven indigo dyed cloth; pork soup (tonkotsu) ramen noodles; and trays and bowls made from rantai shikki (籃胎漆器), a composite made from lacquered bamboo.
In 2010 Kurume is planning to host the International Camellia Conference.
I will introduce the Japanese culture.
Please try to come once
What is Tonkotsu Ramen?
We flew out to Fukuoka and drove down to Kurume to eat at one of the founding places of Tonkotsu Ramen. We're trying out Kurume Ramen Seiyoken. It's delicious, and we're going to show you what the kitchen looks like, how the ramen is made, and we'll tell you just how good it tastes :D

JAPAN VLOG: BIGGEST BOWL OF UDON NOODLES WE'VE EVER EATEN!
*Q&A coming soon! We have a lot of footage to catch up on...*
Hello YouTube family!
WE HAVE HIT 200 subscribers!!!
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT!
Although we personally VLOG to keep track of our own experiences and memories here in Japan, we do it equally if not MORE for all of you. Your comments have been overwhelming and gives us the continuous drive to do better! Thank YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
For this VLOG, we take you guys to (in our opinion) one of the best and affordable udon restaurants in Tokyo called TSURUTONTAN. They have many locations, so finding one shouldn't be too hard of a task when visiting! The restaurant isn't a fast food chain, nor a fine dining atmosphere; it's the perfect medium. Casual, comfortable, and delicious!
We also share with you guys again our experiences getting set up in our apartment. I (Thomas) mention in this video that I won't show you guys the apartment just yet... however due to popular request we already released the apartment tour.
Lastly, we briefly touch on disposing garbage properly here in Tokyo. Disposal rules differ for each ward so unfortunately we cannot speak much or give advice on other areas. But the general rule is to separate recycling, plastics, and burnables! Hope this helps for now. For those who are moving to or living in Japan and want more details, we can go over garbage disposal more in depth in another video. Please let us know what you think!
As always please show us some love by giving this video a like, comment, subscribe, and share!
See you guys soon!

☆Bits of knowledge〜Katsu〜
In the shopping mecca known as Ginza, couture hounds come to ogle every label from Chanel to Prada, but pork lovers flock here instead for katsu, or fried breaded cutlets. Like many of Tokyo's best restaurants, Isen is hidden from view along a narrow back street, on the second floor of an anonymous-looking office building.

☆Bits of knowledge〜sashimi〜
Sashimi (刺身) is thinly sliced, raw food. It is one of the most famous dishes in the Japanese cuisine. Seafood is most commonly eaten as sashimi, but other types of meats (such as beef, horse and deer) and foods (such as yuba tofu skin and konnyaku) can also be served as sashimi. Some people confuse sashimi with sushi. Unlike sashimi, sushi includes vinegared rice.
Sashimi dishes are available at many types of restaurants and at most izakaya. They are also popularly used in teishoku set meals and are a standard element of traditional kaiseki course meals. The slices of raw food are often presented arranged atop of a bed of shredded daikon and garnished with shiso leaves. At some restaurants, the rest of the fish is sometimes presented alongside the sashimi as decoration.
