In this video we are testing out the UP Express (Union Pearson Express) from Toronto Pearson Airport before transferring to the GO Train. Landing in Toronto can be incredibly stressful if you don't know where to go (or how to get there), so use this video to get a better idea of how/ if this system works!

Riding the UP Express Toronto - Union to Pearson
I had the opportunity to take the UP express from Union station downtown to Pearson International Airport.
Given that it was a weekday, and making my way from Toronto Suburb would've taken at least an hour, and for the person dropping me, another hour to two hours, I decided to try out the UP Express.
From Union station, it was pretty smooth sailing, a train was already waiting when I got there and I got on in time. As advertised, I was at Pearson in 25 minutes.
Pros: short time, you avoid all the traffic on 401, and $12 is not really that bad (add another $3.25 if you take the TTC to get to Union), which is still not bad given it would cost a lot more to take a taxi or Uber.
Cons: Accessibility to downtown with luggage. I only had a carry on so had no issues with luggage, but if I had a suitcase or two, TTC access wouldn't be realistic given the morning rush.
For anyone travelling from downtown, this is pretty good, and I would recommend it.

UP Express, GO, and VIA Trains at Toronto Union Station (May 28, 2016)
My first stop on my trip to British Columbia.
In this video we see several trains at the busy Toronto Union Station shot during a 30 minute span on the evening of Saturday May 28, 2016.
Clip 1: UP Express 1012 eastbound from Pearson Airport and GO 637 (MP40PH-3C) from Hamilton, ON both arrive at the station simultaneously.
Clip 2: GO cabcar 307 leads a westbound GO Train out of Union Station (with 611 pushing) just as UP Express 1011 also departs the station for Pearson Airport.
Clip 3: UP Express (Union-Pearson) 1009 westbound departs Union. UP Express began service to the airport in June of 2015 and operates every 15 minutes. The train consist of 2 of 3 DMU units.
Clip 4: VIA 917 (P42DC) leads VIA Rail train 97 (Toronto, ON to Windsor, ON) with 906 pushing to the rear.

Union-Pearson Express (YYZ Airport - Toronto) - March 10th, 2016
This is a ride on the Union-Pearson Express, a new rail-link opened in 2015 between YYZ Airport and Toronto Union Station.
Before departing we take a look at the inside view of both cars - take note of the ample luggage space available on the train. As we depart we see airliners and the cable-train terminal connector.
At the junction with the Toronto-Kitchener main line we are halted for a few minutes while an inbound GO Service has priority over us. Continuing our journey we pass Etobicoke North GO Station, before calling at Weston, and Bloor stations. More GO services pass by as we approach Toronto's Union Station, with several trains arriving and departing (UPX, GO and VIA). Also note the iconic CN Tower as we approach our final destination.
NOTE: The normal fare per adult between Pearson and Union is $12.00. If you have a PRESTO Smart Card the fare is now just $9.00!

UP Express is an Airport Rail-Link that connects the country's two busiest transportation hubs, Toronto Pearson International Airport & Union Station in downtown Toronto.

FUN FACT:
The Toronto Transit Commission operates the 192 Airport Rocket bus route, which links the airport to Kipling Station on the Bloor-Danforth line subway line. Cash fare for the TTC is $3.00 (the cheapest option between the airport and the city), and allows passengers transfer to other routes to complete their journey without an additional fare. The travel time from downtown by TTC is normally at least 45 minutes

This spot just near the base of the CN Tower is a prime spot for railfanning. We try to get here whenever we're in town.
