The first drone footage is Middle Fork Koyukuk River seeing arctic ground squirrels. Beautiful views of imposing Sukakpak Mountain. The pressures on the limestone have changed much of the mountain into marble. Note veins of copper, quartz, crystalline, and cinnabar in mountain face.
Wiseman is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, United States. The population was 14 at the 2010 census.
Wiseman is a small mining community along the Middle Fork Koyukuk River in the Brooks Range. It was founded by gold miners who abandoned the Slate Creek (later Coldfoot) settlement around 1908.
Robert Marshall, who became a prominent American forester, preservation activist, and a co-founder of The Wilderness Society, wrote the bestselling book, Arctic Village, about his 15-month stay in this frontier town around the year 1930. Marshall described Wiseman and the Koyukuk River area surrounding it, as the happiest civilization of which I have knowledge. The community is 3 miles (5 km) from the Dalton Highway, and it was not connected to the road until the early 1990s.
Located just three miles off the Dalton Highway and near the boundary of Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, Wiseman is a jumping-off point for properly equipped backpackers who want to trek into the park on foot.
Today less than two-dozen people live in Wiseman, a century-old mining town that enjoyed its heyday in the 1920s. Thirty cabins from the gold rush era are still used today, mostly by seasonal residents. It can get cold here in the winter; easily dropping to minus 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
Wiseman’s scenic settling along the Middle Fork of the Koyukuk River and against the backdrop of the Brooks Range give you a sense for its recreational options. Hiking, fishing, river rafting or float trips, bird watching and wildlife viewing are excellent in summer. In winter, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog mushing and most notably, northern lights viewing, are excellent.
Are you ready to travel with us?
Leave everything and wander” is the result of Sara Bertagnolli’s and Luca Sguazzini’s desire to join their own skills and realize a dream: that of traveling, leaving the certainties and securities of everyday life behind.
After university Sara achieved high-level professional goals in the field of management and became the personal assistant to the fashion designer Philipp Plein.
Luca has been traveling a lot since he was a child and the last year he gained notoriety for his participation in the Italian version of “Dancing with the stars”; he has more than 138k followers on Instagram and 50k on Facebook.
They have decided to join forces and to tell a life out of the ordinary on social networks. The plan is to travel through Canada, Alaska and, in a second moment, United States, Messico and South America and to share the trip’s photos and videos on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram, giving to everyone the possibility to experience the “wander-spirit”.
Traveling without temporal or spatial limits will give Sara and Luca the possibility to entangle their story with that of people they will meet on the road and to discover new cultures, visiting also the places which are not famous, the ones which often have the biggest surprises in store.
The start-up budget will be limited in order to demonstrate that – also without great economical resources – everything is possible if you put the work in and involve as many people as possible.

At 1:17 p.m., the chief mate of the Genmar Zeus, a Marshall Island-flagged oil tanker, contacted the Coast Guard on VHF-FM radio channel 16, requesting assistance for the master who was suffering from constant and severe stomach pain and vomiting.
Coast Guard Sector San Diego dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew who hoisted the 37-year-old man from the ship and transported him back to Sector.
Local emergency service personnel met the aircrew and transported the ailing man to a local hospital.

USA Soccer Tour 2011
Special Thanks goes to the P.E staff at Salesian College (my school) for putting so much time and effort into this trip and making it possible!
Thanks also goes to Me vs Hero for letting me use their song.
Unfortunately due to my dad, there isn't much footage of the games, if i get anymore i'll upload it.
On the 7th July 2011, my secondary school (high school) flew out from London Heathrow airport to San Francisco International Airport on what was sure to be the trip of a lifetime. The P.E teachers at my school spend over 2 years planning for this trip and after months of planning and ordering new kit for every student going on the tour, the time had finally arrived.
We took off from London at 13:00 on the 7th July and arrived in San Francisco 15:50.
For 6 days, we stayed at a hotel in San Francisco called the Hotel Carlton. The hotel was a 5-10 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, which we ran across on our second day, and Golden Gate Bridge park, our training pitches for our 2 training sessions. (Unfortunately i did not have my camera to film the training pitches or any training sessions.)
During the 6 days we were out there we took part in various activities such as getting a tour of Alcatraz, visiting Pier 39, watching the San Francisco Giants play against the New York Mets, Rocket Boat ride, dinner at the Hard Rock Café etc. We played 2 games in San Francisco, one against a team ironically called Juventus, who we drew 1-1 with, and another against a team called Walnut Creek, who we beat 2-0.
After the 6 days in SF, we moved further South of California and stayed at Pismo Beach in a Best Western on Route 1, for 2 days, which gave every room in the hotel a sea view balcony. At Pismo we played another team called the Arroyo Grande who we beat 3-0.
After 2 days in Pismo, we carried on south to our final 7 day stop in LA where we stayed at the Sportsmens Lodge Hotel. In LA, like San Francisco, we took part in many activities such as going to Raging Waters Water Park, shopping at Westfields, tour of the Home Depot Center, White Water Rafting, tour of Hollywood and a day at Six flags Magic Mountain theme park, etc. In LA we played 2 games against Long Beach FC, who we beat 1-0, and Moorpark, who we unfortunately lost 1-0 to after a contravertial refereeing decision and a shot that agonisingly hit the bar which kept us from equalising and staying unbeaten in the US of A.
All in all the tour was a success and we returned home to the UK on Thursday 21st July 2011 very brown and exhausted from what was the tour of a lifetime.
In Living Color (♥‿♥) Fire Marshall Bill At The Hospital (♥‿♥)
Fire Marshall Bill Burns – Jim Carrey portrayed a crazed, masochistic (and supposedly immortal) fire marshal with a manic grin and laugh along with a scarred face whose safety advisories usually include demonstrating (on himself) the very disaster he's warning against. (Every sketch illustrates a timeline of readily-visible damage on Bill from previous episodes). Usually, the warnings are against ridiculous situations that would never come to pass, such as an alien crab-people invasion, a sex doll that was accidentally inflated with hydrogen instead of air which then exploded due to static electricity, or an outbreak of psychotic elves. Every sketch ends with Fire Marshal Bill blowing up the facility he's teaching at, to which the people involved look at the burning facility and either lament what will become of them or simply stare in shock while Fire Marshal Bill says a witty comment and (sometimes) leaves to do more safety advisories. Despite each sketch showing him lose parts of his body (in one sketch, only his head remained), Bill never dies. In about half the sketches, he gave his full name as Fire Marshal Bill Burns. In one episode when on a cruise, he had a blonde wife named Ashley (a play on the term ash) who also was seemingly immune to the damage Bill caused. Her face was similarly scarred like Bill's was and she was a party to his demonstrations (spreading gasoline in a life raft to prove Bill's point about the danger of flare guns). His catchphrases included Lemme show ya something!!, Don't worry folks, I'm a Fire Marshal! and It can be very, very DTUHHH-DTUHHH ... DEADLY!

In Living Color is an American sketch comedy television series that originally ran on Fox from April 15, 1990, to May 19, 1994. Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote and starred in the program. The show was produced by Ivory Way Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television and was taped at stage 7 at the Fox Television Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The title of the series was inspired by the NBC announcement of broadcasts being presented in living color during the 1950s and 1960s, prior to mainstream color television. It also refers to the fact that most of the show's cast were black, unlike other sketch comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live whose casts were mostly white. It was controversial due to the Wayans' decision to portray African-American humor from the ghetto in a time when mainstream American tastes regarding black comedy had been set by more upscale shows such as The Cosby Show, causing an eventual feud for control between Fox executives and the Wayans.
Other members of the Wayans family—Kim, Shawn, and Marlon—had regular roles, while brother Dwayne frequently appeared as an extra. The show also starred the previously unknown actor/comedians Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier, and T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh. Additionally, Dancing with the Stars judge and choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba, and actress and pop music star Jennifer Lopez, were members of the show's dance troupe The Fly Girls with actress Rosie Perez serving as choreographer. The show launched the careers of Carrey, Foxx, Davidson, Grier, Keymáh, Inaba, and Lopez and is credited with bringing the Wayans family to a higher level of fame as well. It was immensely popular in its first two seasons, capturing more than a 10 point Nielsen rating; in the third and fourth seasons, ratings faltered as the Wayans brothers fell out with Fox network leadership over creative control and rights. The series won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series in 1990. The series gained international prominence for its bold move and its all-time high ratings gained by airing a live, special episode as a counterprogram for the halftime show of U.S. leader CBS's live telecast of Super Bowl XXVI.

FBI unveils replica heads from Alcatraz escape
(16 Nov 2018) Half a century after a notorious prison escape from Alcatraz Island, the FBI has created replicas of decoy heads that inmates used to distract guards from a plan that still captivates researchers and tourists.
Authorities on Thursday unveiled 3D-printed copies of the decoys that inmates Frank Morris and John and Clarence Anglin constructed with soap, plaster and human hair.
Morris and the Anglin brothers placed the decoys in their beds and climbed through a wall to escape the island prison in San Francisco Bay. The men were never found.
Inmate Clayton West also created a head but never made it out of the maximum-security prison that housed dangerous criminals like Al Capone and offenders with a history of escaping.
Authorities said they made the replicas to share with the public because the original decoys are fragile and are evidence in the still-open investigation into the escape by the U.S. Marshals Service.
John F. Bennett, FBI special agent in charge in San Francisco, said a team from the FBI's laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, traveled to San Francisco to scan the original decoys.
Employees at the lab donated their own hair to accurately re-create the original masks, which included human hair that the inmates had collected from the prison barber shop.
The FBI investigated the prison break, which was featured in the 1979 movie Escape from Alcatraz starring Clint Eastwood, for 17 years before it was turned over to the Marshals Service.
Now, Alcatraz visitors can see models of the heads on display that were used in the movie. The FBI hopes the public will soon be able to view the agency's replicas, which were unveiled to some media outlets along with Wanted signs for the long-escaped inmates.
Well I think it's wonderful. It's a great interpretive tool to have these masks for the public to see. We did have a TV prop in the cells, but I'm hopeful that maybe we can have these heads on display, U.S. National Park Ranger John Cantwell said.
Authorities are investigating any and all credible leads, said Don O'Keefe, U.S. marshal for the Northern District of California.
Some may believe that we're chasing shadows, but our efforts are meant not just to perform due diligence, but to be a warning to other fugitives, that U.S. Marshals don't give up because of the passing of time, he said in a statement.

✚ Watch my Old America PLAYLIST:
This vintage movie – originally titled as Men of the Forest – is a dramatized documentary film on the daily lives of loggers in 1950s Georgia. It tells the story of an African-American family that works hard to save money for a power saw. It also explains timber harvest techniques and process. The film was created in 1952 by the United States Information Service (USIS) and intended for foreign audiences.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND / CONTEXT
Logging is the cutting, skidding, on-site processing, and loading of trees or logs onto trucks or skeleton cars.
In forestry, the term logging is sometimes used in a narrow sense concerning the logistics of moving wood from the stump to somewhere outside the forest, usually a sawmill or a lumber yard. However, in common usage, the term may be used to indicate a range of forestry or silviculture activities.
Clearcut logging is not necessarily considered a type of logging but a harvesting or silviculture method, and is simply called clearcutting or block cutting. In the forest products industry logging companies may be referred to as logging contractors, with the smaller, non-union crews referred to as gyppo loggers.
Cutting trees with the highest value and leaving those with lower value, often diseased or malformed trees, is referred to as high grading. It is sometimes called selective logging, and confused with selection cutting, the practice of managing stands by harvesting a proportion of trees.
History of logging in the United States:
Logging has been a part of American history and deeply rooted in the growth of the United States since the early 1600s. The lumber industry has been and will continue to be a staple for life and in the past was essentially a vitality for surviving such as building homes, staying warm, and making money through livelihoods such as woodworkers, builders, and more.
The way loggers cut timber has evolved throughout time as well and although methods have changed the work is still equally as difficult. In the beginning, timber was cut near the water because it was an easier way to transport it to where it needed to go in the long run.
When loggers were forced to move away from the water and inland due to lack of trees near the water they used horses and oxen to haul their cut wood through the forest. Next came log flumes, which were essentially water filled troughs that helped guide logs down the stream and were tied together like a raft.
Tools such as chainsaws and handsaws were used and eventually harvesting machines became the main way of logging trees; this machine is called a feller buncher and can quickly cut and gather trees. The logs were then transported to mills and cut into lumber and other products and then exported to a variety of places including locations as far away as China and Australia.
Over the years, logging has become incredibly controversial due to the concern of environmental sustainability and deforestation but it’s important to realize that there are as many pros as there are cons when it comes to logging. However, the United States is still the most established and leading producer of lumber and it is a global business that is extremely important to the economy around us. The timber harvested each year provides raw materials our nation needs to create the goods and services consumers all over want and need.

1/15/10 Bill O blasts the blame America first mentality
Here's the breakdown on aid to Haiti:
China - $5 million
Russia - one mobile hospital and 20 docs
Hugo Chavez (Venezuela) - one plane
Saudi Arabia nothing
America:
$100 million is private donations
$45 million in corporate donations
Heritage Foundation predicts final donations from U.S. Government via taxes to top $1 billion (thats $1,000 million to those educated in California)
Yet Danny Glover is basically blaming the whole thing on Bush and global warming. Ive heard the hurricane one but now global warming is also causing earthquakes.
Keeping the libs warped logic in check is why I feel O'Reilly got the journalist award from the Medal of Honor Society in October.
I'm tired of people that condemn Fox because they feel that the media should have 100% bias to the left like Venezuela. They must think they're Hugo Chavez. That's typical liberal reverse logic, not knowing the facts, listening to nothing but liberal bias their entire lives and demonizing everyone that disagrees. Yeah, programmed robots like the robots that think they'll go to heaven by killing women and children of other religions. I guess constantly harassing the people you disagree with is the next step toward the type of government they want. In Russia where Putin controlled the media, he had an 80% approval rating. It makes you wonder if people can think for themselves. I listened to that liberal bias for 50 years and never did buy off on it. I've never groked the logic that America was so evil in Vietnam yet when the left got their way and three million were slaughtered and people took to the sea in make shift rafts with little chance of survival, the left didn't bat an eye. Or the logic that we are so evil for waterboarding three high level Al Qaeda (yeah, the creeps that killed women and children on 9/11) that three former CIA directors claimed saved American lives yet they pal up with or support via their actions leaders with the worst human rights records on the planet. Or the logic that we can make America a better place by making it like the countries everyone's trying to leave. The logic that we need to overkill with political correctness unless it involves Christianity then its the exact opposite. The logic that we are trigger happy because that's what Katie Couric says and she knows more than respected think tanks because she's a liberal. The logic that to win a war you constantly tell your enemy that you're on the verge of quitting and that doesn't drag things out and get more people killed . The logic that would have a nuke in a major city within ten years and that would benefit the poor. The logic that TSA needs to spend 99% of their time frisking people like 85 year old grannies because we mustn't profile and it's better to get people kiled. The logic that would allow dictators like Ahmadinejad and Gaddafi would benefit mankind. The logic the freedom of speech is only valid id it's the liberal view. The logic that changing our healthcare system to what they have in England or Canada will save lives. The logic that if interest on our dept got us into this mess than more interest on our dept will get us out. The logic that having attorneys in your pocket is more important than saving 40% on healthcare premiums with tort reform. The logic that you can compete with other car makers paying twice the labor costs with the union markup. The logic that the channel polled the most trusted news must be evil because you don't agree. The logic that universities should only allow liberal opinions because they'd be brainwashed if they heard both sides. They think we can just ignore our enemies but have no idea of the consequences and just make things worse by supporting them. Yeah, I said it, they cause what they claim they're trying to prevent. Most of those negative comments just reinforce how uninformed people are. Maybe it's what happens when most have only heard the liberal biased version their entire life plus dems are masters at deception that the uninformed can't see through. When you compare that they are saying to speeches by Vladimir Lenin they are eerily the same and people bought Lenin's logic also. I you view that page with Lenin's speech, it's rated 5 stars with great comments . They naively think that will benefit them or the poor. Some just think it's cool but it's being cool at a tremendous expense to others.

Unanticipated Future Change in the Land and Ocean Biosphere
Professor James Randerson studies the global carbon cycle. He is known for advancing our understanding of the role of fires in the Earth System. In his work, he combines satellite observations with climate models to explore changes in the biosphere. In 2003, Randerson moved to UC Irvine where he now holds the position of Ralph J. and Carol M. Cicerone Professor of Earth System Science.
Carbon cycle feedbacks have the potential to accelerate the build up of atmospheric carbon dioxide, making it more difficult to stabilize the climate system. In his talk, Professor Randerson will describe several terrestrial carbon cycle feedback mechanisms involving lightning, wildfires and sea level rise that are likely to become increasingly important over a period of decades to centuries. Within the oceans, Professor Randerson will discuss how changes in sea ice cover around Antarctica may trigger sustained losses of global ocean productivity and fisheries for more than a millennium.
This is a recording of a presentation organized by NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Center for Climate Sciences as part of its Distinguished Climate Lectures on May 15, 2018 in Pasadena, Calif.
