U.S.S. Batfish (SS-310) Tour of Interior and Walk Around - July 2018
A video tour of the interior and exterior of the U.S.S. Batfish (SS-310) that I took in July of 2018 during my second visit to the U.S.S. Batfish at the Muskogee War Memorial Park in Muskogee, Oklahoma . The U.S.S. Batfish was a United States Navy Balao-class diesel–electric submarine that served in the Pacific Theater of World War II from December 11, 1943 to August 26, 1945 during which the submarine sunk nine Japanese ships including three Imperial Japanese Navy submarines during a 72 hour period in February of 1945, an incredible achievement that earned the submarine the reputation/nickname of being a sub killer. The Batfish was decommissioned for the last time and struck on November 1, 1969. The Batfish was then turned over to the state of Oklahoma for use as a museum ship and in 1972, the Batfish arrived at its new home in Muskogee after a journey up the Arkansas River. This submarine is in great shape and is a must see for World War II buffs or anybody who has a interest in the subject.

USS BATFISH PART 2
Living History Day 2018
Killer WWII Submarine USS Batfish Escapes War Memorial During Flood
Near record flooding caused the killer WWII Submarine USS Batfish to escape its landlocked resting place of five decades in a nearly successful journey to open water.
The rushing water refloated the Sub from its concrete and moved earth moorings, bursting three of the four large diameter steel cables holding it in place.
The newly freed bow of the mega ton WWII Goliath moved one hundred feet towards the surging Arkansas river, before Muskogee Oklahoma Fire Rescue, and volunteers, were able to fight their way through the twenty plus feet deep flood, to board and feverishly pump thousands of gallons of water into its empty ballast tanks, bringing the Batfish back to ground level.
How the giant Submarine became a resident in the middle of the Country is yet another fantastic story.
Oklahoma Veterans had dreamed of having an attraction from the era, but it was impossible to the minds of many.
The Senator from Tulsa, George Hargrave Jr, was tapped to take over the project others had given up on, as it was agreed upon, bringing a vessel to the State was absurd.
Hargrave contacted the department of the navy, which after much discussion, he chose the USS Batfish to be Oklahoma’s honored guest, saving it from destruction.
He then devised a plan to raise the draft of the Submarine between four massive cargo barges, in its anything but easy trip from the Louisiana seaport. It remains the largest war vessel moved inland in U.S history.
The killer Sub is officially credited with obliterating three Japanese submarines, and multiple war cargo transport ships, one of which is displayed sinking in the periscope picture at the beginning of this video.

USS BATFISH (and farting around on the Canadian River)
Picking up (from my last video) after leaving Shamrock, I head to the Canadian River for some fun. Then I head to Eastern Oklahoma to check out the USS Batfish. A Submarine in the middle of a land locked state in the middle of America. While there, I had full run of the place and this video is full of drone shots by request as well as the infamous butt-floss.... Enjoy!!!

Roughback Batfish
Super rare find! Kristen and I found this roughback batfish while snorkeling in Bahia Honda State Park in the Keys. These guys normally reside at depths well beyond what you can go to without tech diving equipment or a submarine. This first video shows it hopping in a sand patch before I dove down and got a close up shot.
