Jardim botânico de Vila Real
Um dos maiores jardins botânicos da Europa fica na universidade da Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. O espaço tem quase mil espécies e é um dos principais cartazes do programa para fazer de Vila Real uma montra da biodiversidade.
PEJ 11th Annual Meeting at UTAD
The 11th Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Economic Journal was hosted by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and organised by a committee led by João Rebelo of CETRAD - Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies. Three were over 20 sessions of paper presentations on topics as diverse as Macroeconomics, Quantitative Methods, Finance or Education. Sofia Villas-Boas gave the keynote lecture on her research on Policy Analysis. The conference also had other activities such as a fantastic dinner, a football match, and a tour of Casa de Mateus.

About Vila Real:
Vila Real is the capital city of the district of Vila Real, located in the border of Terra Quente, near to Sierra Marão. It has 30 parishes. Geographically, it is situated on a plateau which is located in the confluence of Corgos River and Cabril River.
Within its historical heritage we can find magnificent monuments such as the Cathedral, the Church of San Antón or Matheus Palace. Its natural environment is represented in the UTAD Botanical Garden.
There are two festivities, Easter and San Pascual, which are notably celebrated here.
You can visit Vila Real through various routes where you will discover the beauty of its landscapes. You can also visit the museum and learn about the history of the place.

UTAD - Student registration with Azure and Silverlight
A short video about the students' registration process at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) and the IS developed in Azure and Silverlight.
This project is a partnership between UTAD and Microsoft.
The system also uses a SEF (foreign citizens and borders authority) webservice for on-line validation of foreign students.

Desde 1988 que Portugal tem um novo jardim botânico na sua já longa história de colecções e espaços destinados ao ornamento vegetal. O Jardim Botânico da Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (JB UTAD) é, actualmente, um dos maiores jardins botânicos da Europa e no seu interior poderemos observar espécies vegetais vindas dos quatro cantos do mundo.
INNOVINE&WINE Vine and Wine Innovation Platform | UTAD
The Platform of Innovation of the Vine and Wine is a multidisciplinary project which involves investigators with experience in several areas, such as soil science, climatology, ecology, viticulture, physiology, microbiology, oenology, engineering, economics and management.
The Platform clearly prioritizes the capacity of knowledge transfer to the wine sector. The strong points of the investigation run by UTAD and the competences of innovation are based on the opportunity to establish fruitful and long term relationships with the organizations which have high worldwide performance of R&D, as well as similar investigation interests.
UTAD has been investing significantly in agriculture, thus creating an enviable and specialized know-how in this area, thereby having a decisive contribution for the wine industry ‘s development and to the sustainability of the agrifood chains.
