Udawalawe National Park | Elephant transit home | Travel Vlog | Wildlife | Safari in SRI LANKA ????????

Udawalawe National Park Being located on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and the Uva provinces of Sri Lanka. Udawalawe National Park is situated about 200 km south-east of Colombo. You can easily reach Udawalawa National Park from Colombo via Rathnapura – Pelmadulla – Colombage Ara – Thanamalwila Road and access to Udawalawe park entrance.

Initially, the objective of constructing this national park was to provide a sanctuary for the wild animals exiled due to the construction of the Udawalawe reservoir. Udawalawe reservoir is now considered as the main attraction for the elephants at the Udawalawe National Park. Established in the dry zone of the country, the sanctuary gets an annual rainfall of approximately 1,525 mm and the average temperature remains around 29.5C0.

Other than the elephants, the national park provides a home for many other species of mammals such as the rusty-spotted cat, fishing cat, Sri Lankan leopard, etc. The Sri Lankan sloth bear is rarely seen in Udawalawa national park. Sri Lankan sambar deer, Sri Lankan axis deer, Indian muntjac, Sri Lankan spotted chevrotain, wild boar and water buffalo are among other mammal species that could be seen. Golden jackal, Asian palm civet, Toque macaque, Tufted grey langur, and Indian hare also reside in the park.

The safari gave me mixed feelings because it never felt like a completely wild authentic safari as the elephants and other animals are very used to the tourists and jeeps around. However for the price I recommend going because you are able to see plenty of animals. Let me know your thoughts!!

DAY IN UDAWALAWE NATIONAL SAFARI PARK [ This Place Is a waste of time ]

In this video, we all decided to leave our last location and go to Udawalawe in intentions of going to the National Park in that city which is the famous Safari like Park.
We have been very disappointed with our stay there and the park itself.
The park had nothing else to offer apart from Elephants and mostly peacocks and the whole tour was very expensive. More in the video :)

The Wildest Safari | Udawalawe National Park, Sri Lanka

Our guide Mohan took us on the best private safari I could have imagined. Since he grew up in the Udawalawe National Park, he knows it like the back of his hand. At one point we were surrounded by more than ten elephants. Mohan also showed us wild boars, peacocks, monitor lizards, crocodiles, chameleons, all the birds, and many other wild animals. The park's landscape is simply astonishing.
