Kumano Taisha Shrine lacated in Matsue, Shimane, Japan.
In 1871, the shrine was ranked as a Kokuhei Taisha (国幣大社 National shrine of the 1st rank) under the Modern system of ranked Shinto shrines of State Shinto.
It is the Ichinomiya Shrine in the former Izumo Province which is famous for the Izumo Grand Shrine.
The famous shrine named Kumano is Kumano Sanzan, a World Heritage Site in Wakayama Prefecture. There are two theories about this Kumano Sanzan, one is that it was transferred from Kumano Taisha Shrine to the former Kii Province (Present Wakayama Prefecture) and the other is that it is a completely different lineage.
According to the shrine's biography, Kumano Sanzan in Wakayama prefecture and Kumano Taisha which is introduced this time are closely related.
Until the Meiji period, Kumano Taisha Shrine was divided into Uenomiya and Shimonomiya and now only Shimonomiya has a shrine building. There used to be a Uenomiya about 500 meters away from Shimonomiya, but now there is no main building of the shrine, leaving only the trace of the sacred area.
From 2: 20 to 3: 51 in the video is the location of the Uenomiya. This place is usually not visited by people and seems to be forgotten by people's memory, but I personally think this is the most sacred place.
