Talking Arts: Marketing Uganda's historical heritage
Monday was the World Museum Day and it was commemorated under the theme ‘Museums for a sustainable society.’ During the celebrations, the Uganda Museum, established some 107 years, made a commitment to promote and preserve the culture and heritage of the country. The Uganda Museum has seen some tough financial times but the archaeologists and historians at the facility continue to diligently conduct research, collect, exhibit and protect the items that tell a special Uganda story. Frank Walusimbi now takes a look at the museum in this episode of Talking Arts.

The old name of Uganda was Boganda. Uganda is considered as a pearl of Africa because of its beautiful lakes, birds and safaris. Kampala is the capital of Uganda. It is Situated in the country’s most prosperous agricultural section, Kampala exports coffee, cotton, tea, tobacco, and sugar. Although second industrially to Jinja (40 miles [64 km] east-northeast), the city has numerous food, metal-products, and furniture enterprises and a tractor-assembly plant. It is the headquarters for most of Uganda’s large firms and the chief market for the Lake Victoria region. Kampala has a technical institute and is the seat of Makerere University, which was founded in 1922 and became a university college in 1949 and a university in 1970; for many years it was the only such educational institution in East Africa. About Eddy Kenzo:
Edrisah Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo is a Ugandan native whose life story is nothing short of magical. At the tender age of 4, Eddy lost his mother who meant everything to him, he was forced into living as a street kid for more than 13 years because he did not know where his father was. As a homeless child he had to survive on the streets on his own because he did not know anyone from both sides of his family and music was his safe haven.
Eddy Kenzo has gotten three breakthroughs in the music industry, his freshman hit was a song titled ‘Yanimba’ in 2008 in Uganda. Secondly ‘Stamina’ was a mega hit across the East African community and was even used by the President of Uganda for his political campaign, as well as other political parties. Thirdly, ‘Sitya Loss’ is a viral sensation, released in 2014 that introduced Eddy to an International audience that averages 10,000 views per day. This song has garnered millions of views and has been shared by prominent celebrities like Ellen Degeneres, Puff Daddy, Akon, Ronaldinho, Tevin Cambell, Sanaa Lathan and so many more worldwide.
