Russia's Archstoyanie - Land of the Giant Wooden Sculptures
Subscribe to The Moscow Times:
Thousands of people flocked to Archstoyanie, the grand land-art festival in the Kaluga region, last weekend to climb in, up and stare at the mesmerising wooden pieces that dot this part of the Ugra national park.
The festival was set up by artist Nikolai Polissky ten years ago after he found an idyllic place to live in and practice his art. Each year new objects go up by Polissky and other artists and architects accompanied by concerts, master classes and much clambering on the art.

HISTORY AND BENEFITS OF RUSSIAN TEA ???????? – Traditional Russian tea dates back to the 12th century, and is even mentioned in ancient Russian manuscripts. Since traditional Russian tea was exported abroad, Europe knew and loved it. In fact, before 1917, it was produced in large quantities and exported to many countries, including England and China. However, it’s since been pushed out of the market by inexpensively-produced Indian tea.

The idea of the Saturday trip art-park Nikola-Lenivets You Won't Believe!!!
The idea of the Saturday trip art-park Nikola-Lenivets You Won't Believe!!!
Cosytriangle went to the Kaluga region and brought a lot of photos for the mood and useful tips for traveling.
Last Saturday we finally reached the Nikola-Lenivets art park in the Kaluga region (200 km from Moscow). If you also plan to visit this place (or hear about it for the first time), here are a lot of photos for your mood and a little text, which I hope will be useful.
What is this?
Giant (I do not know what to compare) the park on the bank of the river Ugra, on the territory of which the objects of modern art are scattered.
How to get there?
The most convenient is by car. It is also useful inside the park: the distances between art objects are impressive!
What to do here?
We spent the whole day in the park and did not have time to go round and bypass all the interesting things that are there. This is an incomplete list, what can you do here:
- Walk a lot,
- Ride a bicycle (there is a rental),
- Admire modern art (I hasten to calm skeptics - there are very cool things!),
- get inside huge strange structures (most of them It allows),
- to make unusual photos,
- to go to dinner with the freshest products (here we have our own farm and several establishments with simple food and democratic prices.) We went to the place Kitchen, where only a few dishes are cooked: stewed potatoes, scrambled eggs, delicious bliss Nanchiki with jam and something similar from the repertoire of grandmothers who want to pamper their grandchildren during the summer holidays)
- fry something on the fire (
you'll find everything you need on the spot), - bathe in the river (if you are not against the muddy bottom),
- rent a house or put a tent in the camping and stay for the night (we did not do it, but we looked in the house - looks very neat and cozy). If that, in the photo all the houses are not residential!
What to take with you:
- Comfortable shoes! Precisely not heels and preferably something waterproof. We were lucky with the weather, but in the forest it was still rather damp and muddy in places.
- a remedy for mosquitoes and other biting insects. We forgot about this and very much regretted it!
- Cash. Tickets, food, souvenirs - at least the first you will definitely have to pay, we did not accept the card.
- The camera. There is something to see and what to shoot!
Whom to take with you:
Children here will be good: nature, many interesting pieces, which you can climb, a simple meal. But with the stroller there will be difficulties - there are no asphalted paths in the park. Prepare for steep slopes and rises, forest paths and wooden decks.
Dogs are permitted to enter the territory on condition that they do not cause inconvenience to other vacationers. (Tolstenky bulldog Fedya, you are forever in my heart!)
Council for any trip: take those who are with you on the same wave. We got a team of lovers to walk around - the pedometer counted more than 30,000 steps! But it's nice to be lazy in Lazyvets too: get stuck on the bank of the Ugra and have a picnic, for example. In general, agree before the trip, what you will do - this is the main rule of a great weekend!
All PPP! (Travel, positive, adventure!)
With you was Katya from Cosytriangle.
