Uji bashi Bridge, recognized as one of the three most ancient bridges in Japan, is said to have been built by Douto, a monk from Gagouji, Nara, in 646. The story and origin behind this is carved on “Ujibashi Danhi (memorial plate)” at Houshouin. Uji Bridge can be see from the entrance of Keihan Uji Station, and the view from the bridge give visitors a relaxing moment.
Uji bashi Bridge was reconstructed in March, 1996. It has a traditional shape that is decorated with Japanese cypress trees and a bronze ornamental cap. “San-no-ma” that extends to the upper streams is said to be a remain of “Hashihime (a guardian goddess)” or where Toyotomi Hideyoshi went to get water to make tea. Uji tea festival, “Meisui Kumiage-no-Gi (act of drawing water from the river to make tea)” is held here.

As of October 1, 2015, Uji has an estimated population of 184,726 and is the second largest city in Kyoto Prefecture. It has an area of 67.54 km2, giving it a population density of 2,735 persons per km2.

Visiting Uji River for Its Autumn Colors
On the day (12/03/2016) of my visit, first, I walked through old town area towards Byodoin Temple. Then I crossed the bridge and walked along the north bank of Uji river on a paved road. After reaching the suspension bridge, I turned around and walked along the south bank of Uji River.

I had a walk the row of Cherry bossoms in Uji park of Kyoto on sunday.
Here Sakura blossoms was so beautiful too. And the wild gray herons have inhabiting in the Uji river. And I took a video of that bird too.
But this day was so strange weather. This day almost was sunny day, But sometimes the rained, and so strong wind blew.

Ryan Takes Japan - EPISODE 11 - NARA AND UJI
This is the eleventh episode chronicling my adventures abroad in Japan and Vietnam in September and October 2017.
Nara is a city that is a short train ride out of Kyoto. Most famous for their deer park. I spent the day with my friend Tommy, (who I met back in Sendai) and his friend, who was also visiting Japan. We went for the deer, but discovered so much more.
Uji is a city well known for being a producer of some of the best green tea in the world. You can find matcha and all sorts of Japanese green teas all over the city. Uji is between Nara and Kyoto so we hit it for the final stop for the day on our way back to Kyoto.
