Our mission is to digitize and transfer videotapes and film reels in order to preserve the content and to make the programs accessible via the internet (YouTube) for educational, entertainment and research purposes. So amazing to be able to go back in time and watch news, commercials, special events and history from years past.
Tens of thousands of videotapes and film reels are destined for the garbage and landfills and many have already been destroyed. If you, your family or your organization has historic video tapes or film reels of special events, classic sports programs and TV News that were broadcast over the airwaves please consider helping us archive and preserve that history for future generations.
Troy Gomez, professional photographer and videographer from New Orleans Louisiana has been working to archive his own personal video collection. Mr. Gomez was the official photographer for the Louisiana Superdome from 1987 thru 2002 and also worked in the news industry for UPI New Orleans as well as with local news papers and magazines for many years.

Our mission is what it was for Katrina: security, search and rescue, and then transition to civil authority. For Rita it was a little bit inverted, you know, our mission is first search and rescue, second mission is security, third is route clearance. The challenge is all critical lines of communication between, Alexandria, Lake Charles, New Orleans and back and forth are covered with debris and lots of them are submerged. I heard this morning that part of I-210 (interstate road) on overpass was collapsed because of the pressure on the ring. So that limits lines of communication that's one of the reasons we have five engineering battalions there in South West Louisiana dealing with it right now.

I hope the future is great, these are people of a lot of soul, a lot of hope and a lot of, you know, they are fun loving people, so hopefully we are going to see New Orleans and mardi gras returning, the big easy, big less uneasy.

STORYLINE
New Orleans escaped the worst of Hurricane Rita on Saturday, getting less rain than expected, but one outlying area was less fortunate as storm surge flooding chased hundreds of people from their homes.
Floodwaters were pooling along areas that were slammed by Hurricane Katrina last month and have been all but abandoned ever since.
The water covered piles of rubble and mud-caked cars, rising swiftly to the top of first-floor windows.
Major Arnold Strong, National Guard spokesman, from the Oregon National Guard said that submerged lines of communication were posing a challenge for route clearance.
The lashing rain had stopped early Saturday, but forecasters cautioned that more could come.
Rita made landfall early Saturday as a Category 3 storm just east of Sabine Pass, on the Texas-Louisiana line, more than 275 miles from New Orleans.
An initial surge of water Friday spilled over a patched levee protecting the impoverished Ninth Ward, flooding the neighbourhood with at least 6 feet of water.
Leaks beneath another levee flooded homes with at least a half-foot of water. Meanwhile, wind-whipped waves pushed water from Lake Pontchartrain over a seawall.
Despite the levee problems, meteorologists were turning their attention west to the communities in the storm's crosshairs such as Lake Charles and Cameron.
In New Orleans, water poured through gaps in the Industrial Canal levee, which engineers had tried to repair after Katrina's floodwaters left 80 percent of the city under water.
The rushing water spilled east into St. Bernard Parish.
