Ulvik is a municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. The municipality stretches from the Hardangerfjord to the mountains that reach 1,800 metres above sea level. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Ulvik. The villages of Osa and Finse are also located in Ulvik municipality. The 722-square-kilometre municipality is the 154th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Ulvik is the 384th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,131. The municipality's population density is 1.7 inhabitants per square kilometre and its population has decreased by 0.5% over the last decade. Of the municipality's total population, nearly half live in the village of Ulvik at the end of the Ulvikafjorden. The vast majority of those who do not live in the village of Ulvik live on the farms surrounding the village or at the end of the Osa Fjord in the village of Osa. In 2016 the chief of police formally suggested that the police station be closed down.

Old Eidfjord Church

Old Eidfjord Church (Norwegian: Eidfjord gamle kyrkje) is a parish church in Eidfjord municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Eidfjord. The church is part of the Eidfjord parish in the Hardanger og Voss deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, stone church was built around the year 1309 to serve the people of Eidfjord. The church was the main church for the Eidfjord parish (sokn) until 1981 when the new Eidfjord Church was completed. The old church is now used only for special occasions since it only seats about 100 people. The church is decorated as it looked in the 1700s.

Where on earth is Rinell?

Geiranger is a small tourist village in Sunnmøre region of Møre og Romsdal county in the western part of Norway. It lies in Stranda Municipality at the head of the Geirangerfjorden, which is a branch of the large Storfjorden. The nearest city is Ålesund.

Geiranger is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, and has been named the best travel destination in Scandinavia by Lonely Planet. Since 2005, the Geirangerfjord area has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Seven Sisters waterfall is located just west of Geiranger. Norwegian County Road 63 passes through the village. Geiranger Church is the main church for the village and surrounding area. .

Santa Claus

Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle and simply Santa, is a figure with legendary, historical and folkloric origins who, in many Western cultures, is said to bring gifts to the homes of the good children on 24 December, the night before Christmas Day. However, in some European countries children receive their presents on St. Nicholas' Day, 6 December. The modern figure of Santa Claus is derived from the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas, which, in turn, has part of its basis in hagiographical tales concerning the historical figure of Christian bishop and gift-giver Saint Nicholas. During the Christianization of Germanic Europe, this figure may have absorbed elements of the god Odin, who was associated with the Germanic pagan midwinter event of Yule and led the Wild Hunt, a ghostly procession through the sky. Over time, traits of this character and the British folklore character Father Christmas merged to form the modern Santa Claus known today.
Santa Claus is generally depicted as a portly, joyous, white-bearded man—sometimes with spectacles—wearing a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots and who carries a bag full of gifts for children. Images of him rarely have a beard with no moustache. This image became popular in the United States and Canada in the 19th century due to the significant influence of the 1823 poem A Visit From St. Nicholas and of caricaturist and political cartoonist Thomas Nast. This image has been maintained and reinforced through song, radio, television, children's books and films.
