North Umpqua Wild and Scenic River!
The North Umpqua, a tributary of the Umpqua River that drains from the Cascade Range south of Eugene, Oregon -- is one of Oregon's most beautiful rivers!
The clear water, large Douglas-fir stands and geologic formations add to the spectacular scenery. The river is known for a variety of resident and anadromous fish species, including summer and winter steelhead, fall and spring chinook salmon, coho salmon, and sea-run cutthroat trout.
The combination of large summer run steelhead, fly-fishing only restrictions and majestic scenery has drawn anglers from all over the world. The river serves as habitat for a variety of resident fish species, including summer and winter steelhead, fall and spring chinook, coho sea-run and cutthroat trout. The North Umpqua summer steelhead fishery is considered to be one of the most outstanding on the West Coast.
In addition to the natural scenic quality of the North Umpqua River corridor are the locations of numerous prominent geologic features of columnar basalt, large basalt rock boulders and spires which are currently managed as the Rocks Geologic Area. Few river systems in the region expose as much of the volcanic and geologic history of the formation of the Cascades in one straight, east-west direction.
The North Umpqua also provides river running opportunities for paddlers of all skill levels, from placid waters to roaring rapids. The best months for enjoying whitewater are May, June, and early July.
Almost 34 miles of the North Umpqua have been designated as a wild and scenic river and this section has been set aside for fly-only fishing. The 79-mile long North Umpqua Trail parallels the river and offers visitors challenging hiking and mountain biking experiences.
Camping, picnicking, swimming, horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, bicycling, photography, nature study and scenic driving also await you!
Stop on by the BLM’s Roseburg District Office for more information about the North Umpqua. Hope you out on the river making your splash!

My Adventure Life: Toketee Falls with Keely
Music Credit: Jai Wolf - Indian Summer
Oregon has so many natural wonders that date back thousands of years. Some formed by old lava flows, like Toketee Falls. This area is amazing, and majestic. The easy hike to the platform makes it accessible by all ages. The climb down to the base of the falls. (NOT FOR EVERYONE) Keely was amazing, when I told her we were going on an adventure this day. I meant it. After breaking a sweat on the rope climb down, it was time to jump in the 30° water. The moment you jump in, your heart starts to race and you lose all your breath. You must focus and breathe. . . I just yelled OH MY GOD lol. But, it was one of the most refreshing and amazing experiences to jump in the freezing water at the base of Toketee Falls. Definitely a memory I will never forget.

Toketee Falls, Oregon - Inspiring Waterfall in Southern Oregon
Venture through a trail of old-growth forest along the North Umpqua River with views of cascading water through a narrow rock gorge and you will come to Toketee falls. The trail has 200 steps leading to a sturdy deck overlooking the two-tiered falls.
The upper descent drops 40-feet, and the lower falls plunge 80-feet over a sheer wall of volcanic basalt. In the Chinook language, the word Toketee means pretty, or graceful, an apt name for such an inspiring waterfall.
