Unchalli falls is created by Aghanashini river dropping 116-metre (381 ft), Unchalli falls is located in Siddapur taluk, Uttara Kannada District. Unchalli falls is known as Keppa Joga By locals. Sirsi(35 km ) and Siddapur(33 km ) are the nearest towns. Monsoon season is the best time to visit.

Day 1: UNCHALLI FALLS, UTTARA KANNADA RIDE

- Description:
Formed by Aghanashini River, the fall is situated in dense forest. The water flows through several cascades before dropping into a big pool from a height of over 200 feet. The falls demands a 1.5 hrs trek both ways from parking area, so better be prepared to put in some physical effort. The trek path is wide and not very steep. There is a view point at top from where the steps lead to 2nd and 3rd view point. 3rd view point offers complete view of the falls where the spray cloud rises over the falls soaking you on the other side of the shazam. One does not feel like leaving this place.There is no path to reach bottom of the falls/pool and any attempt is also very dangerous.
The water falls resembles the pallu of a saree and best visited during monsoon when it is at its full roar.

- Route: From Sirsi junction ride towards Kumta for 10kms and a sign board will come towards left side at Amminalli bus stop which indicates Unchalli Falls as 22kms more. I will suggest to use Google map.
I went form Bangalore. To reach Sirsi you can take left diversion from Pune-Bangalore NH 48 before Haveri and follow Sirsi-Haveri road where roads are fine with frequent speed breakers. So be careful.
- Stay - Online hotel booking web sites will not show much options. So take help of google map to search hotel around Sirsi or Just dial are best options. Few hotels at Sirsi are: Samrat Guest House, Madhuvana Hotel, Apollo international hotels, Panchavati Hotel, Jayashree Lodge, Hotel President etc.

- Additional Activity: Bheemana Gudda View point and Off-Road. While returning after a ride of around 10 kms at Nilkund Sign board (Green coloured) take left diversion for about 1 kms in red soiled road and again left to ride/drive till peak of the view point which is a thrilling uphill off-road. *NB: Return from the falls before it gets dark due to dense forest. Use google map to avoid confusing diversions. Take care of Leeches ????.

Unchalli Falls, also known as Lushington Falls, is a waterfall created by a 116-metre (381 ft) drop in the Aghanashini river. The fall is located near Sirsi in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka, India. The falls are named for J. D. Lushington, a District Collector for the British Government, who discovered the falls in 1845

The beautiful Unchalli falls created by nature. Around 40 kms from Sirsi, and situated in Siddapur taluk, in Karnataka State. Must go and watch this beautiful location. A beauty of nature. The falls is still rushing with water in May, The full on summer. You can enjoy your summer holiday in this region.
The entrance gate to this falls area is almost 1 km away. After that you cant bring your vehicle. By walk you have to reach the falls.
It is a very good family outing location. But carry all necessary things along with you. Now the location is under development by authorities for better access to the tourists.

Unchalli Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. This waterfalls is located about 34 km from Sirsi and the cascade is created by river Aghanasini. The height of this waterfalls is about 380 feet. This waterfalls is credited with distinction of being the only waterfall in Asia and the fifth waterfall where the Moonbow is documented so far. Other Names for Unchalli Falls : Lushington Falls, Keppa Joga

Unchalli falls is created by a 116 metres drop in the Aghanashini river located in the Siddapur taluk, Uttara Kannada distict in Karnataka. Its named after JD Lushington, a distict collector of the British empire after he discovered this in 1845. The nearest village is called Heggarne, 5kms away and the last 2kms to be covered on foot. The river here takes a deep plunge to create this spectacular, picturesque falls. This falls is also known as Keppa Joga because of the deafening sound it makes. There are view points constructed to view but the dense surrounding make it difficult to get a complete view of the falls. Rainbows and mist are a common occurrence because of the height from which the river takes a leap and lands with a deafening roar sending up water droplets that eventually shower back again.

Benne hole waterfalls is beautiful waterfalls near Sirsi, in uttarakannada.
This falls is less known by the people because reaching this falls is not easy in rainy season. This falls exhibits it's real beauty in this season.
But there are some species of leaches in this reason that's why people are not willing to visit in the rain.
But lot of people do visit this falls after the end of rainy season. According to its name Benne means Butter and Hole means river.
Best time to visit this place is from June to February.
This waterfalls is situated at a distance of 30km from Sirsi. If u are traveling from Sirsi, first you have to travel up to a village named Kasage in sirsi-kumta road. This village is situated at a distance of 22 km from Sirsi. After reaching this village you have to take a rough mud road which lies at left hand side of the main high way. In this this u have to travel upto 6-7 km. While traveling you will get 3-4 road diversions. So I have to choose correct road because there is not sign boards in some diversions. And mobile phone network will not help u. Because there will be no network in such jungle areas. And you will find no one to ask the right direction. So before planing to go to this place download this video in your phone and follow my instructions in this video. Beware of leaches that spread over the jungle.
There will be no food or any other facility near this place. So one has to carry food with him. And if your vehicle got damaged then there will be less chance of getting help as it is a jungle area.
Some times your journey may end due to falling of big trees on the road.
While travelling to this place you may hear the voice of some birds. If you are lucky you will see some wild animals in this area.
We request people: Please don't spoil this beautiful natural place by throwing plastic and other garbages here and there.

Nearest railway station: 1) Talguppa (If you are coming from Bangalore)
2) Kumta (if your coming from Goa or Mangalore)
3) Hubli or Haveri (if you are coming from North India)
