Undavalli Caves | Amazing Andhra
Carved out of a single large sandstone cliff, the spectacular temples of the three-storey Undavalli caves show the convergence of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain faiths. These caves are believed to have been built as Buddhist monasteries of Viharas. Undavalli became the central place for Jain monks between 6th and 8th centuries CE. The temples are dedicated to the holy trinity with a 5-meter long statue of Lord Vishnu as Padmanabha, resting on Seshanagin in a reclining position. The entire statue is carved out of a single granite. #AmazingAndhra
