MERMAID CAVE AND ZABLAN BEACH - WAIANAE - OAHU - HAWAII

Double Channel Crossings Maui to Oahu
Time for a haul out in Oahu so we gathered up some friends who have never experienced cruising and took them for a 2 day sail from our mooring in Mala Bay to Ke'ehi Marina. Plenty of wind and big swells made for an exciting ride. We have some tips on Lono Harbor if you plan to stop in there. Stay tuned for the Haul Out video next.

Kawaihae Harbor, Island of Hawaii
Kawaihae Harbor is on the Kohala Coast north of the Waikaloa Resorts on the Island of Hawaii. It is the home of Kawaihae Canoe Club.
Kawaihae Harbor includes a fuel depot, shipping terminal and military landing site. Outside of the man-made breakwall of the harbor is a popular surf spot and the Pua Kailima o Kawaihae Cultural Surf Park.
The small town features a handful of restaurants and art galleries. To the north of the harbor is the Kawaihae Canoe Club and a small boat ramp. To the south is Puʻukoholā Heiau national historic site, built by King Kamehameha I in 1791. Also to the south is the smaller Mailekini Heiau and the Hale o Kapuni Heiau, which is submerged.
The United States Army Corps of Engineers dredged the harbor and built the breakwall between 1957 and 1959. In 1970, construction of a small boat harbor began to the south of the main harbor entrance by several institutions under the name of Project Tugboat. Over 100 tons of conventional explosives were buried in the Kawaihae reef and detonated to clear the basin and the entrance.
It also served as the launching point for the film Waterworld with Kevin Costner. The artificial reef or floating island was just off the coast with headquarters for the movie at the harbor.
Makaha Beach Snorkeling - Oahu, Hawaii
Some footage from this past Sunday I got at Makaha Beach, Oahu Hawaii. This location is known for the Turtle Spa, or Turtle Town where green sea turtles come to get their shells cleaned by the fish. There is also a statue further out from the spa shown in the short film! Some beautiful water and great wildlife here.. I would definitely recommend making it a spot to visit if you're on the island. Thanks for watching!
This was shot 100% with a GoPro Hero 3+

MAY 15-21, 2017-
This week was a long one full of work and state exams. Since this was the case we didn't pick up the camera very much until the end of the week. At this point we had time to relax at a beautiful Beach cottage on Kaneohe Bay. Enjoy the views and our thoughts on our time there. Don't forget to subscribe to follow us around Hawaii. :)
