Unfinished Church, Attraction In St George Bermuda
Construction of the Unfinished Church, a replacement for St Peters Church, began in 1874. Disagreements amongst the congregation, financial problems, and storm damage, meant it was never completed.
It is now one of the major attractions in St Georges Parish, located just north of the town of St George, on the way to Tobacco Bay.
The Unfinished Church is managed by the Bermuda National Trust.

GoPro HD: The Unfinished Church in St. Georges Bermuda
Construction of the Unfinished Cathedral in the town of St. Georges in Bermuda began in 1874, originally thought to replace the badly damaged St. Peters Church. However, for funding and disagreement reasons, the church was only partially completed. In 1926, a hurricane damaged the work that was already done, and today, this is what is left.

Cruise to Bermuda: 8/16 -- 8/23 aboard the Norwegian Magesty!
Work began on this intended replacement for St. Peter's Church in 1874. But, just as it neared completion, construction was halted by storm damage and disagreements within the church community. Hence the massive Gothic-revival pile sat -- unfinished and crumbling -- until the Bermuda National Trust stepped in to stabilize the structure in 1992. With soaring stone walls, a grassy floor and only the sky for a roof, it's the sort of atmospheric ruin that poets and painters so admire (fodors.com).
BERMUDA, EXPLORING the ABANDONED CATHEDRAL of St George, amazing images
SUBSCRIBE: - Rising high into the air, this neo-gothic structure sits atop the north end of Kent Street in the historic town of St. George’s, Bermuda. Upon first glance, the structure appears to be the ruins of a once elegant and grand gothic church. It is the kind of structure that one can almost imagine poets, authors, and painters converging under to lull away the time, daydreaming about their various passions. In truth however, it is the ruins of a structure, started in 1874, intended to replace another church, St. Peter’s Church.
