☼ ☀ Walking in Antigua, Guatemala ☀ ☼
Taken December 20, 2015.
If you're interested in what Antigua Guatemala looks like, this is a good video for you, taken on an average day. Enjoy!
I started near La Merced (the big yellow church), went down the Calle del Arco, down to Central Park where we see the fountain and main cathedral, and then we go down to the Tanque La Union, where we see the other yellow church and park lined with palm trees. Finally we end inside my favorite church, San Francisco. I love seeing all the random daily activities going on... street vendors, people selling food, a couple getting married, the same musicians that always play in park on Sundays, families walking around enjoying themselves, etc. It's a good representation of a typical Sunday afternoon in Antigua!

La Merced Antigua Guatemala
Destroyed twice by earthquakes, this 1548 church was rebuilt in the 1700s to withstand earthquakes and boasts a lovely yellow façade and a huge stone fountain, reputed to be the largest in Central America.

Guatemala Church - Wi-Fi.m4v
This is what church services were like in Guatemala. The people got really into the music, and they had ribbon dancers, sometimes cheerleaders, and men that got up and lead dance routines. They also had a congo line at one time. The preacher also got into his sermon just as much as the people did with the music. Sometimes, I felt like I needed ear plugs. :)

Guatemalan National Police Archive
A chance investigation in Guatemala City in 2005 led to the discovery of millions of administrative police documents dating from 1882 to 1996. The Guatemalan government and police had long denied their existence, particularly during truth commission investigations by both the United Nations and the Catholic Church in the 1990s, during the final years of the country's nearly four decades of armed civil conflict.
The University of Texas at Austin in collaboration with the Historical Archive of the National Police of Guatemala, or the Archivo Histórico de la Policía Nacional (AHPN), recently unveiled a university-hosted digital archive that will serve as an online digital repository for millions of documents from the archive.

Vlog #27 |Guatemala 2015| La Ciudad P2
I find it interesting that the Dump is located on the outskirts of the cemetery.
People say that death is the great equalizer. Depends on if you can afford to be buried or thrown away, I guess.
Food for thought. Thanks for watching. Take care, YWH bless, Hasta Luego!
Just Arrived In Guatemala!
Guatemala. Just arrived at a place called the House Of God with Pastor Cash Luna. Amazing place. We’re discussing the nature of the spiritual battle over Central America and the church specifically.
Today is a woman’s meeting and I just found out I’m supposed to speak. Oh boy. Got me thinking about the role of women in the Last Days. Remember the promise of Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between YOU and the WOMAN, and between your seed and her Seed;” interesting that it’s the “woman.”

Guatemala
Guatemala is a country in Central America bordered by Mexico to the north and west, the Pacific Ocean to the southwest, Belize to the northeast, the Caribbean to the east, and Honduras and El Salvador to the southeast. Its area is 108,890 km² (42,043 mi²) with an estimated population of 13,276,517.
A representative democracy, its capital is Guatemala City. Guatemala's abundance of biologically significant and unique ecosystems contributes to Mesoamerica's designation as a biodiversity hotspot.
On September 15, 1821, the Captaincy-general of Guatemala (formed by Chiapas, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Honduras) officially proclaimed its independence from Spain and its incorporation into the Mexican Empire, which was dissolved two years later. This region had been formally subject to New Spain throughout the colonial period, but as a practical matter was administered separately. All but Chiapas soon separated from Mexico after Agustín I from Mexico was forced to abdicate. The Guatemalan provinces formed the United Provinces of Central America, also called the Central American Federation (Federacion de Estados Centroamericanos). That federation dissolved in civil war from 1838 to 1840 (See: History of Central America). Guatemala's Rafael Carrera was instrumental in leading the revolt against the federal government and breaking apart the Union. During this period a region of the Highlands, Los Altos, declared independence from Guatemala, but was annexed by Carrera, who dominated Guatemalan politics until 1865, backed by conservatives, large land owners and the church.Guatemala's Liberal Revolution came in 1871 under the leadership of Justo Rufino Barrios, who worked to modernize the country, improve trade, and introduce new crops and manufacturing. During this era coffee became an important crop for Guatemala. Barrios had ambitions of reuniting Central America and took the country to war in an unsuccessful attempt to attain this, losing his life on the battlefield in 1885 against forces in El Salvador. From 1898 to 1920, Guatemala was ruled by the dictator Manuel Estrada Cabrera, whose access to the presidency was helped by the United Fruit Company. It was during his long presidency that the United Fruit Company became a major force in Guatemala.
Guatemala is a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Guatemala is both head of state and head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Congress of the Republic. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. Álvaro Colom is the President of Guatemala as of 14 January 2008.
