UWC Atlantic College in 60 Seconds
Located in the 12th Century St Donat’s Castle in the United Kingdom, UWC Atlantic College is the founding college of a global education movement and international residential school. Each year, over 350 students aged 16 -19 from over 90 different countries benefit from a world-class Diploma Programme educational experience.
The two year Diploma Programme has two parts: the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) curriculum, and a programme of experiential learning that focuses on key aspects of peace, a sustainable future and student initiative. They are interlinked and share a common heritage through the pioneering philosophy of Kurt Hahn, the United World College movement and the education work of Alec Peterson.
The Programme represents the mission of the College in action. It focuses on a lifelong commitment to service in the community, to collaborative work and social engagement and develops in young people a sense of personal initiative and the skills of leadership. Students are placed into positions of trust, authentic responsibility and decision making, and through action and personal example demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
UWC (or United World Colleges) is a global educational movement with the mission to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Originally founded in 1962 to bridge social, national and cultural divides caused by the Cold War, today UWC consists of 18 schools and colleges on four continents, several short educational programmes, and national committees in 159 countries and territories worldwide. The UWC movement's international arm is UWC International, a UK registered charity. UWC International is governed by the UWC International Board and the UWC International Council. The executive arm of the UWC International Board is the UWC International Office, located in London, United Kingdom.Founded and inspired by the pioneering German educationalist Kurt Hahn, the UWC movement brings deliberately diverse students from around the world to study together. Most of UWC's 17 schools and colleges exclusively offer two-year residential programmes, for young people aged 16–19 years, during which they complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
Four UWC schools (UWC Thailand, UWC South East Asia in Singapore, UWC Maastricht in the Netherlands and Waterford Kamhlaba UWC of Southern Africa in Swaziland) also offer non-residential educational programmes for younger students.
Most UWC students are selected through UWC's system of national committees, which operate in 159 countries and territories as of early 2018. Selection is based on merit, independent of the students' socio-economic background. A majority of national committee-selected students pursuing the IB Diploma at a UWC school or college receive financial assistance from UWC, based on their socio-economic needs.Two-year residential UWC colleges typically have between 200 and 300 students, from approximately 80-100 different countries.
