Designed by a group of students in University of Basrah - department of architecture
A students project of designing a residential neighborhood of 600+ units
designed with the intention of preserving the architectural heritage of the city its been designed in, Basrah.
the project sits on a land area of 350,000sqm and has a variety of housing types, along with educational, medical and recreational services and large spaces of green areas that's centered in the houses sectors.

Build solid Linkages - Job Fair in Basra, Iraq
Jobs create new prospects!
Iraq is facing an increasing rate of youth unemployment, triggered by both a fast-growing population and diminishing oil prices that traditionally provided stable job opportunities in the public sector.
In cooperation with the Southern Technical University in Basra, GIZ PSD project has conducted the first job fair in the province. This event provided a unique opportunity for graduate students to engage with a range of employers in Basra. The job fair took place on the 24th & 25th of Jun 2019.
The two-day event attracted 16 employers, mainly from the Teclommunication, Oil, and Construction sector and others, and more than 700 job-seekers. GIZ, PSD project hopes to continue providing a unique platform for both employers and job-seekers to meet and discuss employment opportunities and build a solid network.

Despite oil wealth, Iraq's Basra plagued by broken infrastructure, poverty and violence
Basra, in southern Iraq, contains much of the country’s oil wealth -- yet residents there are struggling just to survive. The city lacks basic services like clean water and reliable electricity, and jobs are rare. But people taking to the streets to protest what they see as government failures to provide say they've been brutally punished. Special correspondent Jane Ferguson reports.
