Hornchurch has a wonderful church with a tall spire, the 'international' viewers may like to know that there is a 'war grave' there, where amongst various British and Commonwealth airman there also lies the American pilot, Sanders-Draper, killed whilst flying a Spitfire in the Royal Air Force.

Following a storm the previous year in which one pair of sails was blown off, the 200 year old windmill in Upmister East London received a new pair in July 2008. The regional ITV News programme was there to see them go up.

Bus operators include Capital Citybus (both blue / grey and yellow liveries) and Thamesdown. The trains are British Railways Class 302 electric multiple units in Network SouthEast livery and London Transport D stock in unpainted 'livery'.

Windmills of Suffolk: Stanton Windmill
Stanton Mill or Upthorpe Mill as it is sometimes known was built in 1751. It was originally built as an open trestle post mill. In 1818 it was moved to its present site. At some point in time the Common sails were replaced by Double Patent sails, a roundhouse later being added and a fantail fitted to turn the mill into wind automatically. The mill ended its commercial working life on a single pair of sails. It was disused by 1918 and in 1937 was becoming derelict. Rex Wailes inspected the mill on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and an appeal for funds to restore the mill was launched in 1938. In 1939, millwright Amos Clarke, along with Messrs Hunts of Soham commenced repairs which cost £600. A new side girt was fitted to the left side of the mill and the roundhouse roof was repaired. The tailstones were removed at this time. The intention was to fit the cast iron windshaft from Great Mill, Wickhambrook in place of the existing wooden windshaft and to add a new pair of sails but this work was not done owing to the outbreak of the Second World War. The mill was painted grey to reduce its conspicuousness as a landmark, as it was close to RAF Shepherds Grove. The mill was worked during the war, but ceased to be used in 1946 as it was unprofitable. By the late 1960’s, the mill was again becoming derelict, and the fantail was carefully dismantled. In 1979, emergency repairs were carried out by Suffolk Mills Group and in 1986 the mill was bought by Richard Duke. Restoration work was carried out and the mill was able to grind again in 1990. In 1993, the mill was bought by Peter Dolman and further restoration work was carried out. Today the mill is privately owned and not open to the public.
Myself and my sister have had a lifelong interest in tall and interesting buildings such as windmills, and aim to continue to go round many of the windmills in the region and other counties in England.

Thelnetham Windmill
Wonderful little tower mill set in the heart of the north Suffolk countryside in the village of Thelnetham. Built in 1819, the mill replaced an earlier post mill which had been dismantled and moved to the South Norfolk market town of Diss. By the late 1970s, Thelnetham Mill had become derelict and was bought by a group of mill enthusiasts who, in 1980, began what became a seven year restoration.

Trains at Hornchurch Station 1990 - 2017
Trains at Hornchurch station which nowadays is only served by the London Underground District Line.
1990's footage include D stock trains in original unpainted format, what look like British Rail Class 308 trains in blue / grey and Network SouthEast liveries and the 'Steam On The District' steam train which in August 1990 ran between Upminster and Upney as part of an Upminster Depot open day event.
HD footage dates from 2012 to 2017 and shows D stock and S stock trains in London Underground Corporate livery plus C2C Class 357 trains in C2C livery.
