HOT NEWS Belmopan 2017 Best Of Belmopan Belize Tourism
Belmopan tourism. Belmopan (/ˌbɛlmoʊˈpæn/) is the capital city of Belize. Its population in 2010 was 16,451.[2] Although the smallest capital city in the continental Americas by population, Belmopan is the third-largest settlement in Belize, behind Belize City and San Ignacio. Founded as a planned community in 1970, Belmopan is one of the newest national capital cities in the world. Since 2000 Belmopan has been one of two settlements in Belize to hold official city status, along with Belize City.
Belmopan is located in Cayo District at an altitude of 76 metres (249 feet) above sea level.[4] Belmopan was constructed just to the east of the Belize River, 80 km (50 mi) inland from the former capital, the port of Belize City, after that city's near destruction by Hurricane Hattie in 1961.[4][5] The government was moved to Belmopan in 1970.[6] Its National Assembly Building is designed to resemble a Pre-ColumbianMaya temple

Breaking Down Whylie’s Tenure as ComPol
For the latest news across Belize, visit:
Allen Whylie held back nothing on Wednesday in his farewell statement to the Belize Police Department in which he departed from the usual niceties on such occasions. Whylie confirmed that he had been pushed out abruptly and that the decision to retire him was delivered on the same day he was to go. The ex-ComPol also went after those who he felt had wronged him during his tenure as head of the department. And to put to rest claims that he was ineffective in crime fighting, Whylie outlined measures he took. Here is Isani Cayetano with that report.
UDP abandons the Belmopan Entrance of The University of Belize, WHY?
The entrance to the University of Belize is in deplorable conditions BUT this UDP government could hardly be bothered their interest is to serve the area which houses majority of their VOTERS; SAN MARTIN, SO THEY CEMENT THE STREET IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE UNIVERSITY WHICH IS IN SAN MARTIN AND NEGLECT THE STREET WHICH IS INFRONT OF THE UNIVERSITY. LIKEWISE THE STREET INFRONT OF THE HOSPITAL IS IN HORRIBLE CONDITIONS BUT THE UDP TOP PRIORITY IS TO FIX STREETS IN AREAS WHERE MAJORITY VOTERS ARE AND TO HELL WITH THE SICK AT THE HOSPITAL AND TO HELL WITH THE STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY.

33rd Annual SMART Belmopan Classic
Sunday March 16, 2014
Belize City - Belmopan - Belize City
The Annual SMART Belmopan Classic travels from SMART Headquarters on the Philip Goldson Highway through Belize City and unto the George Price Highway to Belmopan, where it goes around the Ring Road and returns back via the same route to Finish with one lap from the Round a Bout that goes from Napa to the Sol Round a Bout at Buttonwood Bay Blvd for the Open Elite/Masters; while the Female/Junior/Youth use the same route but only to La Democracia and return
I was only able to capture the first 60 miles of the race with a rear facing camera, do to lack of battery life. I overlayed my GPS, power, speed, cadence, and heart rate data. I also captured the first 40 minutes of the race with a forward facing camera but it was on a plastic mount that was vibrating badly, you will see in the video, and the battery died early on this camera. At the finish line I finished 10th place in this race.
Thank you for wathching

John Saldivar’s Sarstoon Excursion is Batted Down by Cabinet
For the latest news across Belize, visit:
Cabinet met today in Belmopan; one of the significant decisions taken was in relation to a surprise announcement on social media last week, to the effect that the Ministry of National Security was organizing excursions to the Sarstoon. As you know, Belizeans were legally stopped from going up the river in April 2016. More recently, Belizeans have to check in at the forward operating base to traverse the Belize side of the river where they are met and often turned back by the Guatemalan Armed Forces. As it turns out, the planned excursions by John Saldivar’s ministry was not sanctioned by Cabinet which today reversed the decision. News Five’s Isani Cayetano has a report.

Community Policing Training Wraps up in Belmopan
For the latest news across Belize, visit:
A training programme by the Israeli government that started with controversy, ended quietly today in Belmopan. For a week, the police department and civilians received training from the Israeli instructors on best practices in community policing. The concept is one that is already being implemented in crime infested areas, but it is the instructors that came under fire because Israel has traditionally supported Guatemala, which has a claim to Belizean territory. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.
