Lanhydrock, a National Trust house near Bodmin, Cornwall is a magnificent late Victorian country house with extensive servants quarters, gardens and a wooded estate. It is the perfect country house and estate, with the feel of a wealthy but unpretentious family home. Cooper's Cottage is a an ideal retreat from city life for a family or couple.
The ground floor has a spacious and comfortable living room, separate dining area and fully equipped, cottage style kitchen. The main body of the cottage (thatched section) is thought to be over 400 years old and one of the first dwellings to be built in Lower Heyford. The original front door would have been where the middle window in the sitting room is currently. The property is Grade 2 listed.
-The entrance to the cottage is from the rear of the property, leading into a dining area with tiled floor and antique dining table.

Location and access
The village of Lower Heyford is 13km from Junction 9 of the M40 and just one and a half hours from London. Heyford railway station is 15 minutes walk from the cottage. There is a rail service between the nearby Heyford station and London Paddington via Oxford.
Things to do
-Woodstock & Blenheim Palace - the birth place of Winston Churchill. Lots of information on line.
-Oxford - the train in the village runs between Banbury & Oxford and comes approximately every 2 hours in both directions. It takes 12 minutes to get to Oxford.
-Oxford Canal - on the far side of the playing field opposite the cottage can be found the Oxford Canal. Turn right and there is a lovely circular walk to Upper Heyford and back taking you either side of the canal. Turn left and within 5 minutes you will be at Heyford train station and also Heyford Wharf. If you are feeling more adventurous it is a 14 mile walk direct to Oxford City centre along the canal and 12 miles to Banbury. Both walks end close to the train station and an easy journey home!
-The Wharf - Oxfordshire Narrowboats are based at the wharf and canal boats can be hired here by the day, great fun! There is also a small shop selling basics like milk and butter and a cafe called Kizzie's at the wharf, serving light meals and afternoon tea as well as breakfast - highly recommended. oxfordshirenarrowboats.com
-Bicester Village - needs no introduction for most people, but in case you are not a convert, it is an outlet village selling designer clothes at cut down prices and is a 10 minute drive away! There is also a large Tesco supermarket next to Bicester Village. If you need food shopping as well we suggest you park here and walk over to Bicester Village, although there is a two hour limit on parking at Tesco.
-Rousham - if you drive or walk across the bridge out of Lower Heyford towards Woodstock and look left you will see Rousham House. A beautiful, privately owned country house. The gardens are open most of the year to look around (no children under 15!). Possible to walk to Rousham in 20 minutes.
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Picture of Dorian Gray is the only published novel by Oscar Wilde. The novel tells of a young man named Dorian Gray, the subject of a painting by artist Basil Hallward. Basil is impressed by Dorian's beauty and becomes infatuated with him, believing his beauty is responsible for a new mode in his art. Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, a friend of Basil's, and becomes enthralled by Lord Henry's world view. Espousing a new hedonism, Lord Henry suggests the only things worth pursuing in life are beauty and fulfillment of the senses. Realizing that one day his beauty will fade, Dorian (whimsically) expresses a desire to sell his soul to ensure the portrait Basil has painted would age rather than himself. Dorian's wish is fulfilled, plunging him into debauched acts. The portrait serves as a reminder of the effect each act has upon his soul, with each sin displayed as a disfigurement of his form, or through a sign of aging. The Picture of Dorian Gray is considered a work of classic gothic fiction with a strong Faustian theme.

[Unabridged] The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is a novella by H. P. Lovecraft (1890--1937). Begun probably in the autumn of 1926, it was completed in on January 22, 1927 and was unpublished in his lifetime. It is both the longest of the stories that comprise his Dream Cycle and the longest Lovecraft work to feature protagonist Randolph Carter. Along with his 1927 novel The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, it can be considered one of the significant achievements of that period of Lovecraft's writing.
The Dream-Quest combines elements of horror and fantasy into an epic tale that illustrates the scope and wonder of humankind's ability to dream.
